In response to covid-19 and the shutdown of courts, the running of limitation periods and procedural deadlines for car collision suits and other civil matters was suspended between March 16, 2020 and September 14, 2020 (26 weeks). In other words, a plaintiff who has not yet started a claim and whose limitation period was caught under the emergency suspension, will now have an extra 26 weeks to file a lawsuit.
