The excitement of Christmas as kids was sometimes overwhelming, as I am sure mom and dad will attest too. One sure sign of the holidays was mom bringing out her Spode Christmas dishes to use morning, noon and night. Christmas Eve, after church, the house was filled with friends, food and laughter. Lana and I (we shared a room, Melissa had her own room) would try staying up for hours, listening for Santa’s arrival and once did hear him testing out our toys! One year we would ...spend Christmas Day in Smiths Falls at our grandparents house next door, the next would be in Cornwall at Grandma Grant’s house, through many a major snowstorm. The kids table was always full! Our traditions have altered slightly, Christmas Eve moving to my house from the farm, also filled with friends and family. Christmas dinner switching from one Baker household to another each year. This year’s traditions will be altered again, as they will be for everyone. No big Christmas Eve party. No big Christmas dinner. But we will all still keep the spirit of the season alive in our hearts and minds. On our dinner tables, the tradition will continue of Christmas Spode dishes arriving at Lana, Melissa and my home. We love them, thanks Mom. We will forever have a bit of Christmas on the farm no matter where our homes may be. Whatever is beautiful. Whatever is meaningful. Whatever brings you happiness. May it be yours this holiday season and throughout the coming year.

Well this is a few years ago! Anyone else dressing up this year?

Have you carved your pumpkins yet?

We have no idea how Halloween (or even Thanksgiving!) may go down this year, but we are open for pumpkin sales. Decorating for the season can still make it feel festive even if guests are limited. We drive around the countryside to look at all the Christmas lights, why not still carve pumpkins and do the same! It’s going to be a beautiful weekend, please get outside and enjoy! All pumpkins are pre-picked and priced so you are able to serve yourself, without contact with anyone if you so choose. Stay safe!

We still have corn! Get it before the dreaded frost arrives!

Is your freezer stocked with corn yet? There is still plenty of time! We may just start freezing some ourselves on this dreary day.

Everyone loves their corn! So much so that we have run out for a day or two while we wait for the next variety to ripen! So no corn on the stand today , Monday August 17th, but will have beans and jams on the stand for sale.
