My first-ever oyster shucking gig was on the rooftop patio here at Wayne Gretzky’s Sports Bar. I was 18 years old, washing dishes and shucking standards at The ...Swan Restaurant. My seat on the oyster rollercoaster ride of a lifetime was beginning. Adam Colquhoun introduced me to something that changed my life and I’ll never forget the two women who were there that evening excitedly eating tonnes of oysters. At the time I couldn’t understand why they were so enthusiastic about it. This was when I realized that oysters are truly special!

The response we’ve received as a result of The Sweet Oster Cup 2020 has left me speechless! The support we’ve received from the oyster community has left me at a loss for words...

As we continue to improve our product and fill a need for functional and practical oyster tools, we've dedicated some resources to produce: the banjo book - a guide for serving oysters". The simple explanations and colourful artwork are designed to clearly illustrate how to the safely handle and serve oysters at home.

Since I shucked my first at 18, I’ve learned a great deal about oysters. The Banjo Book exists for one purpose: to make oysters more accessible at home ... With The Banjo Book, I’ve taken my 22 years of oyster knowledge and stripped it down to the bare essentials. Like the sculptor who does not create the statue, but claims to have merely removed the unnecessary pieces... The Banjo Book’s simplicity contains a wealth of practical knowledge. Sincerely, Jason Woodside

To my oyster-eating friends around the country: I have several customers and friends who are trying to sell off their oyster inventories. They are all using th...e proper Covid-19 precautions when dealing with retail customers. Here they are: Halifax - Afishionado Fishmongers Montreal - Poissonnerie La Mer Ottawa - Whalesbone Sustainable Oyster & Fish Supply Toronto - Oyster Boy Restaurant Scarborough - Diana's Seafood Woodbridge/Vaughan - Seacore Seafood Don't forget to call/message ahead. They don't all necessarily have our oysters, but they could certainly use your help if you're craving a feed. They are selling them as cheap as you'll ever get them, so an inexpensive way to teach yourself how to shuck if you don't know how. And not to mention they are one of the best foods for your immune system. If you're worried about how long they will keep, they will last minimum 2 weeks when kept properly. So in a bowl with a damp towel on top, or if you buy them by the box (usually they come in a waxed cardboard box) then in that box is fine. Please consider supporting your local fish shop when getting your grocery supplies during this crisis. Any questions, let me know.
