This summer has been quite difficult. We’ve had to pivot enough to make us dizzy. But with the help of a few good friends in the industry, masks, sanitizer, and understanding clients, we’ve managed to do some luxurious and micro small, exclusive, safe celebrations. . ... We’ve worked alongside some wonderful planners and other vendors who work hard to make sure their businesses follow protocols. Supporting small business is very important, too. As recommendations change, so do we, and will continue to do so. we are listening to experts and scientists. But if we can help you celebrate safely, count on us to be there. Want to know if we can help you celebrate, while still keeping you and your guests safe? Email us at [email protected].

We haven’t posted in a long time. To be honest, we’ve been navigating the murky waters of 2020. This week has been a tough week. We’re in the business of celebrating. But this isn’t the time to celebrate. As a business, and as people, we are responsible for building a better future - dismantling the systems that make it EASIER for us to live, work, prosper, and, yes, even celebrate, in our society. That’s how deep and insidious systems of oppression are. We directly benef...it from the colour of our skin. We need to address this, acknowledge it, change it. So, for now, we’re turning our attentions to being better allies. We’re educating ourselves, evaluating our actions, analyzing the systems that advantage our bodies and disadvantage others, thinking about where we are complicit, how to use our voices without drowning out others, and, most importantly, spending every future minute educating our son so that he is a part of the future solution, an ally, an advocate, and a good person. Our presence at this (very different and very important) event makes a difference. * edited for clarity - not our event, learned about it from Naked Cafe

We haven’t said much but we’ve been quietly trying to manage. Trying to keep up with rebookings. Trying to figure out new ways to stay afloat for 2020 when we can’t sell our own products or have big events!... Trying to manage the toddler, the dog, the cat, the house, the business, and our other work. Quietly creating cocktails behind the scenes - late at night when the house is asleep, or midday when the creatures are all napping. Working with wonderful local creators, too. Small events are happening, soon! Need some help with a couple cocktails? We can help with that. Or, we’ll just post some recipes for fun! Like this one: a classic with a twist. Thanks @wiseacrefarmdistillery for keeping us grounded as friends and as inspiration during what, proved to be, a very difficult time. *and @kelownalavender for the beautiful lavender products, as always!! @ Kelowna, British Columbia See more

Ok so, moment of truth. We’ve been dealing with a little bit of sadness and grief. For all the heartache in the world. And for our business. We’ve been working our asses off for 18 months and then poof. This was supposed to be THE summer, Bar None. It’s ok to for your heart to feel sad about cancelled stuff, even when your head knows it’s for the greater good. It’s ok though. We’ve dusted off our hammers and wiped our tears and adhered to all the health recommendati...ons and gotten to work upgrading, updating, and beautifying our shining glory. This bar trailer is perfect for ANY outdoor event and can be dressed up or dressed down. 15 foot, live edge pine bar? Check. Chandelier? Check. Custom decor? Check. Maybe we’ll do a little launch party/post covid we love people party and ask some local bartender friends to collaborate?! . . . . #collaboration #postcovid #party #backyard #backyardwedding #bartender #weddingbartender #eventbartender #mobilebar #cocktails #mixology #afterparty #kelowna #okanagan #okanaganlife #okanaganlifestyle #weddingbar #weddingbartender See more

We made ourselves a vegan Caesar with what we had in the house. Get ready for an East meets West taste explosion. #caesarsunday lives on. 1 small can regular V8 (156mL) 2 tsp soy sauce 1 tsp hoisin (Make sure it’s a vegan hoisin)... 1 tsp sriracha 1 tsp rice wine vinegar 1/2 tsp maple syrup 2 dashes sesame oil Sprinkle of garlic powder (we use @ghostlygarlic ) It’s super good as a virgin Caesar!! Add sriracha for more ! Add 1oz vodka (@okanaganspirits and @wiseacrefarmdistillery are both lovely local choices) Ps the cucumber garnish is so good here. The rimmer is Clubhouse red pepper and garlic with some of our own secret ingredients. See more

Hi! Well isn’t this a case of the silver linings playbook. After 10+ years of putting it off, I’ve finally made it official. I am, in fact, a writer. A writer that loves cocktails. And wine. Best seller status, here I come! ... In all seriousness, I’ve been doing serious writing on the side for many years. So, if you need help with any writing for your biz, hit me up! Hospitality, arts, small business, charity friends: I can write your very important docs. Grants, online content, letters of intent, blogs, cover letters, applications - whatever. Love letters? Sure! Probably better me than you after 1L of wine. Website is a work in progress but check it out karewithwords.wordpress.com Follow @karewithwords for reading lists, writing tips, and probably more baby pics. With love. May we all find time to follow our hearts. See more

Hello. We’re feeling it too - the sadness and fear and worry. But we’re seeing some heartwarming stories and trying our best to support local with our (very sparse) bank accounts. Yesterday’s drink of choice was the 2019 @arrowleafcellars Rose! Yum! So good. We highly recommend this if you’re looking to switch up from those delicious reds. But we’re gonna rock the @nichewineco Pinot noir tonight. A gentle reminder to stay close to home, support local, and maybe dig in the dirt if you have the ability to.

Hi! This is the time for community. Please donate (bagged and tied cans and bottles) for our drive. It’s ear marked for mental health (foundry and cmha), but some funds may even be diverted to the food bank if things get difficult for many people. ... We’re going to start featuring at home cocktails AND MOCKTAILS using local liqueurs, featuring local wines, and local beers and ciders! Monday mocktail is more of a juice but will keep your immune system pumping! Pineapple basil smash: Muddle 3-4 leaves of basil with .75oz of simple syrup in the bottom of a shaker cup. Add 2oz pineapple juice, 1oz lemon juice, 1/2 inch of grated ginger, and a couple drops of your orange bitters of choice! If you want it a little frothy, a 1/2 oz of aquafaba and shake what yo mama gave ya. Want to add alcohol? @okanaganspirits gin or vodka would be real good in this one, with a splash of raspberry or blueberry liqueur to boot! Call ahead and pick up to take home. lessen 1 oz pineapple juice and add gin/liqueur. @borntoshake is delivering their bitters free of charge!! We don’t make bitters but we’re going to take this opportunity to try theirs!! Support local. See more

Inspired by many others in our community, we’re focusing on fundraising. For the next few weeks, we are expecting to have no events. This business is our (second) baby but we’re going to approach this unexpected setback with a renewed focus on our 2020 mission: collecting cans and bottles and raising cash for mental health. Check in on your friends during this time. Anxiety sucks. Fear sucks. loneliness really sucks. ... Check in on your friends dealing with addiction. These times can make for a difficult part of anyone’s struggle. Check in on your neighbours. Check in on the elderly. Check in check in check in. We will pick up empties from anyone anywhere! Please have them packed into bags if possible. We’ll be wearing gloves!! Safety first. We’re also planting seeds. Not a metaphor, lol, so if anyone has gardening tips or empty cans, slide on into those dms! #event #eventbar #eventbartender #kelowna #okanaganlifestyle #supporteachother #supportlocal #bartender #life #mentalhealthawareness #okanaganlife #kelownawedding #postponed #cancelled
