GUESS WHAT?! WFM2Go has won The Grapevine "Best COVID Online Shopping" for their Best of the Bunch 2020 awards! Thanks to all who voted, over 1,000 of you! W...e're so thankful to be able to offer this service year-round. Locally grown food creates important economic opportunities, provides health benefits and helps to reduce environmental impact. Together we are growing more local. We're looking forward to being on this journey with you in 2021! If you want to learn more about what we do, be sure to check out our website www.wfm2go.ca
There was a beautiful sunrise but the sky is grey with just a line of the sun rays along the edge over Freeport, temp -2C, wind chill -5C, wind calm ENE 7 km/h,... boats out. Did you know , The coldest temperature ever recorded in Nova Scotia was 41.1C on January 31st 1920 in Upper Stewiacke and this community also holds the honour of being half way between the Equator and the North Pole. Something To Ponder, When we Hustle, doing something it usually means doing the things we don't enjoy first and quickly so you can do the things you Love and Enjoy. Life is like that don't you agree? #brieirsland #whalewatching #MarinerCruises #bayoffundy #visitnovascotia #getbackup #onedayatatime #bekindtooneanother #family #novascotiastrong #Love #Hope #lobsterfishing #Roy'sBoy See more
Winter at the Hopewell Rocks. L'hiver aux Rochers Hopewell.
Another grey morning with wind, temp 4C, wind WSW 34 km/h with gusts to 43, chance of some showers, boats secure. The large swell is still rolling in on Dartmo...uth Point. and the clouds are still on the move but not as fast as yesterday. I am looking forward to the ground getting harder so there will not be so much mud around and there is talk of it getting colder this week. I know what some of you may be thinking but I am one of those people who enjoys season change, we have been stuck in the MUD to long, HA HA. Did you know, As of 2016 Nova Scotia population was 923,598 and the most densely populated of Canada's four Atlantic provinces, and the second smallest province by area. Something To Ponder, It doesn't matter what stage of life we are in. There is always time to make it better. #brierisland #whalewatching #MarinerCruises #bayoffundy #visitnovascotia #getbackup #onedayatatime #bekindtooneanother #family #novascotiastrong #Love #Hope #lobsterfishing #Roy'sBoy See more
Happy New Year! Before you know it, whales, dolphins, porpoises and seabirds will return for the summer, marking the start of another whale watching season. O...ur 2021 season is scheduled to start with the Zodiac on Saturday, May 29th, 2021 and the tour boat, Mega Nova will start cruises on Saturday, June 12, 2021. This of course, is dependant on Covid-19 restrictions at that time. We are now taking reservations for 2021, but at this time, we are only accepting bookings from Atlantic Canada but this will be subject to any change in restrictions. We are entering into our 36th year of whale watching and our 38th year of research! We are pleased to announce that we will be offering our Anniversary rates of $35 per adult, senior or student (Children's prices remain at $28) These prices include tax and cannot be combined with any other offer or discount. This rate is applied to cruises on July 30th, August 15th, August 30th, and September 11th only. This offer is for the Mega Nova only. Book early as space is limited. Beautiful snowflakes #elfontheshelf #2020holidays
They call us mellow yellow, quite rightly.....Alma is in the Yellow Zone have a safe and mellow weekend.
Charles Darwin described @jogginsfossilcliffs in his Origin of Species, published #OTD in 1859, "Sir C. Lyell and Dr. Dawson found carboniferous beds 1,400 feet thick in Nova Scotia, with ancient root-bearing strata, one above the other, at no less than sixty-eight different levels."

Kingsbrae is deeply saddened to hear the passing of former staff member and friend Trent Seeley. Trent always had a smile in the kitchen, had a true passion for culinary, and was well liked by the entire team. Our condolences go out to his friends and family.
The sky is looking angry with big dark clouds, temp 8C,wind ESE 42 km/h with gusts to 58, rain in the forecast. The wind is just howling this morning, it has be...en a while since we have had a stiff breeze. Did you know, Yesterday the Blessing of the fleet took place on the upper wharf due to Covid, It was a nice afternoon and a great turn out. Barbara sang the song the Lighthouse and she did an amazing job. That song and service always makes my eyes leak and this blessing was hard because Captain Jimmy wasn't on the roll call. Time brings many changes but when our community loses one of our own it sure is felt by those who live here. Amy did the roll call with her clear crisp voice. Something To Ponder, No one gets to live LIfe backwards, that's why memories are so Precious, but we must look ahead, that is where our future lies. #brieirsland #whalewatch #marinercruises #bayoffundy #visitnovascotia #atlanticbubble #getbcakup #onedayatatime #bekindtooneanother #family #novascotiastrong #Love #Hope See more
The sky is still looking rather dark due to the heavy cloud cover but there is rays of sun trying to break through, temp 3C, wind NW 20 km/h. It is chilly for s...ure and I finally had to put on my winter jacket yesterday. Did you know, The newly built Canadian Coast Guard Ship John Cabot has been added to the fleet, it is the third and final offshore fisheries science vessel joining CCGS Sir John Franklin and CCGS Capt Jacques Cartier and marks the completion of the first class of large ships built under the National Shipbuilding Strategy. Something To Ponder, A persons mind is like a Parachute. It doesn't work if it is not Open. #brieirsland #whalewatch #marinercruises #bayoffundy #visitnovascotia #Atlanticbubble #getbackup #onedayatatime #bekindtooneanother #family #novascotiastrong #Love #Hope See more
Good Morning Brier Island Another golden glow to start what is expected to be a sunny but chilly day.
Danny & Wendy would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank our Adventure Manager Breanna Despres for her dedication and hard work this crazy busy year with all... of the Covid - 19 regulations. The Peace Officers spent some time at our stables today to observe our protocols for trail rides. They then met with me to go over our operational plan. End result - their feedback was "Congratulations you guys are doing a great job - keep it up!!!" How many times this season has Breanna said - Please just wait there - Please exit by that gate - Please sign and phone number here - Please put your used pen there - Please don't touch that - Please sanitize - Please social distance - Please wear your mask. You get it - the list goes on and on but she was both consistent and persistent and it has paid off in keeping our staff and customers safe. We are so fortunate to have lots of wide open spaces and beautiful trails to ride, bike or hike. THANK YOU to all of our staff and customers for working together so we can still enjoy Mother Nature and let's continue to follow the health guidelines until a vaccine is available. See more
Stop number two! #Yummy

On this #nationalhomemadebreadday, homemade bread would have had a whole new meaning with these beautiful historical photographs captured of the Women’s Army Au...xiliary Corps making bread for British Troops during First World War. To see more historical photographs like these visit www.nbm-mnb.ca and search our new photographic database that includes approximately 24,000 scanned digital images from the provincial museum’s historical photograph collections. #lestweforget #CanadaRemembers #LeCanadasesouvient

Rebuilding Nova Scotia’s Tourism Industry continues to be the focus of TIANS Board of Directors as they held their Fall meeting at the iconic Digby Pines Golf R...esort and Spa over the past two days. Along with a broad strategic planning session focused on rebuilding the tourism sector, the agenda included meetings with Tourism Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities, Hotel Association of Nova Scotia and the Restaurant Association of Nova Scotia. An informative presentation was also provided by our partners from the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council. Watch TourismStrong.ca/Webinars for the presentation slide deck. Thank you to The Digby Pines for safely hosting the in person meetings. Thank you also to Mayor Ben Cleveland, Mayor Pam Mood and Warden MacAlpine for joining the group yesterday.
The Daily Drum Today I am featuring a Humpback Whale Drum and a prayer to our friends in the Oceans. "We are One in Truth with the healing of our precious ocean...s, The whales, dolphins and all the creatures whose home is the ocean. May all be honored for their love, wisdom and service to Earth. May all be held safely in the ocean waters. Offering peace, we send them our gratitude." Have a Great Day! See more

Have you seen any or all of these creature while on tour with us?

Merci Bill Hicks, Chef de la direction du MNB ------------------------------------------------------------ Message From NBM CEO Fall, with all its beauty is upon us, and activity at the New Brunswick Museum moves forward. I wanted to mention the on-going building improvements at both the Market Square Exhibition Centre and the Douglas Avenue Collection & Research Centre. At the Exhibition Centre, entering our 3rd month of re-opening, we look forward to continuing to welcome visitors on first two floors of exhibition space to explore on their own or talk to welcoming Interpreters. The experience includes a great exhibition on exhibitions... really, this is not a typo. This exhibition illustrates, from behind the scenes, how museum exhibitions are conceptualized, designed and installed. Since our 3rd floor is closed due to COVID and ongoing roof improvements being undertaken, a new NB Art Gallery in Gallery One has been established from our extensive fine art collection featuring the work of New Brunswick artists. At the Douglas Avenue Collections and Research Centre, which includes the Archives and Research Library, the various phases of Health and Safety improvements continue and will throughout the Winter. The Archives and Research Library will remain closed to the public during this time. However, researchers and the public are encouraged to visit the online collections database, which now includes the online photographic database, on our website at www.nbm-mnb.ca. The building improvements noted above are significant and impactful but important to do. We thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding as this necessary work continues over the coming weeks and months. I want to especially thank and commend all NBM staff who work hard to make it happen with their expertise & ability in safely manoeuvering collections where necessary and being innovative in ensuring that their important work continues. I also would mention that the NBM will be going through a strategic planning process this Fall and Winter that will set our course for the next few years, in terms of facilities, collections, organization, digital & virtual engagement, inclusion and overall vision. An important component of this process will be public engagement. Thanks Bill Hicks, NBM CEO
