Sadly my brother and I had to find a nursing home for my mom because dementia was slowly becoming a problem. Her safety and health were our motivating factors. We were lucky enough to have a place open up for her at Rideaucrest, and I have nothing but positive accolades for the staff and the home. Everyone there seems to care and respect the clients, however the PSWs are incredible. Their patience and gentleness allow the elderly a very comfortable environment. A huge thank you to all PSWs who care for these people that can’t care for themselves
Laurie’s Lending Library is now open to serve Kingston West. Borrow a book, swap a book, Laurie will be pleased to see it being used. It’s located at the front of our driveway 4085 Bath Rd. Happy Reading.
For any of you who have a drawer full of dull knives, I’ve got a great place to remedy that situation. Kingston Knife Sharpening at 1 Keyes St. Scott does a great job and is very reasonable.613-449-5351.
This has got to be the best kept secret in the Kingston area. This beach is in Adolphustown at the Loyalist Campground. It’s never busy and $5.- for a family. Look at the view. You need to call ahead to reserve because of Covid.
Went for a drive this morning, just to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us here in Kingston. Came across a road side stand on Switzerville Rd and purchased some lovely strawberries and kale, which as you can see I turned into lunch. Kale, strawberries, roast chicken with a key lime and strawberry dressing. I love this time of year.
Matt and I had the pleasure of visiting La Cultura Salumi in Belleville today. It’s an incredible facility that produces world class charcuterie and cheeses. Frank and Jane are absolutely lovely people and their store front has a marvellous selection of charcuterie, cheese and other imported and Canadian products.
The last of summer it’s important to enjoy it as much as possible and to do that of course you need new toys. Surprisingly mine seem to be food related. This new cast iron grill is fantastic ( hibachi for the 21st century). Found this lovely unit at Jolie Home Decor. Dinner was delicious and yes the potatoes were from Laurie’s garden and the beef is DJ Cook’s Wagyu. All the best Clark
The Food Truck is at Kingston Gospel Temple on Princess St. today and tomorrow 11-6 and Thursday 1-6, Friday and Saturday 11-6 at Royal Kingston Curling Club On Days Rd.
Francois And Will have finally opened the Food Truck. Great to see after all the interesting times that new businesses are still opening. I wish them all the best!! To give the first day a little boost, the first twenty people who say Clark sent me Wagyu burgers are on me. Enjoy!!!!!!
As it turned out my retirement could not have been better timed. My heart goes out to all restauranteurs, who after months of closures, part closures and now part openings, have forged ahead to reopen during these very peculiar times. I truly hope those that can, will fully support these fine establishments. I have of course watched as Matt has redefined Days on Front during these last few months and now am wowed by the newly renovated interior. I wish all the best to everyone over the next while and hope normalcy will return as soon as possible.
Thanks to all of you who donated much needed sandwich bags, lunch bags, cookies, fruit cups and monetary donations to St. Vincent de Paul. It’s so much appreciated. We are also struggling to fill our volunteer positions. Many of our regular volunteers are seniors who are not volunteering at this time and many others take time off in the summer. If you are interested please call Kelli at SVDP 613 766-8432. Thanks again everyone.
Sorry hit publish too soon. They are located at 85 Stephen Street. Open Monday through Friday from 9-1. Phone number is 613-766-8432.
As many of you know Laurie works at St. Vincent de Paul running the meal program. Due to Covid-19 they have been restricted to take-away lunches only. Extra packaging costs are eating into their food budget. They are always looking for donations of lunch bags, ziplock sandwich and snack bags, and fruit cups or applesauce individual portions. Anybody looking to make a big difference at this time, your donations would be greatly appreciated.
