We at B.C. Government House are sad not to be hosting the New Years Day Levee this year and miss you all very much. I encourage you, however, to share any memories you may have from this special event in our Levee memories contest. See below for further details and on how to enter:
2020 was truly a year of great resilience and it was an honour and privilege to serve British Columbians throughout these unprecedented times. I've shared my year in review, with thanks to all I met along the way, with hope we might meet again in 2021: https://tinyurl.com/y8uho3dp
Sharing best wishes for the holiday season from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, with heartfelt thanks for all the kindness you've shown each other throughout the year
The New Years Day Levée has been a tradition among Vice Regal houses since British Columbia entered Confederation in 1871. On the first day of the new year, Government House opens its doors to friends, neighbours and visitors, and welcomes all for refreshments, music and camaraderie. Unfortunately, there will be no Levée this coming New Years Day. The continued presence of COVID-19, in addition to Government House’s ongoing renovations, means we must go another year without g...athering together. In light of the cancellation, Government House invites all who have attended a New Years Day Levée to share their favourite photographs and memories. A panel of Government House representatives will choose a winning photo. The winner will enjoy a catered picnic lunch for two on the grounds of Government House (COVID-19 restrictions permitting). We’ll post the highlights here on the LG Blog and share a few memories of our own too. Photos and memories can be submitted to [email protected] until January 4, 2021, and a winner will be announced January 18, 2021.
On #RemembranceDay, we honour the sacrifices of those who gave their lives & those who returned with injuries physical or unseen. We celebrate the achievements of our veterans & give thanks to those who serve our country today. More than ever, we must not take them for granted.
November 5-11 is #VeteransWeek, but year round you can support veterans who are building second careers as entrepreneurs and #BuyVeteran. Find hundreds of businesses online and in your community on the Operation Entrepreneur business directory www.buyveteran.ca #CanadaRemembers
This year we must observe #RemembranceDay2020 together but apart. The ceremony at the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia Cenotaph will be small with limited capacity but you can watch via livestream on CHEK News or find a way to watch a local ceremony via BC/Yukon Command of the Royal Canadian Legion at https://tinyurl.com/yak2j3w5
I am deeply saddened by the tragic news that a member of our Canadian Armed Forces has gone missing at sea. My sincere thoughts are with the family, friends and HMCS Winnipeg / NCSM Winnipeg shipmates of MS Duane Earle.
A statement from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor on the results of the 2020 Provincial General Election:
