BCMCL 12.02.2021

Dear FolksOn behalf of the BCMCL Committee, I would like to update everyone on our current situation regarding the 2021 Season Plans. We have applied for city permits as we always do every year. The committee is working towards a full regular season, including Pre-Season T20. We have purchased cricket balls and obtained insurance, and have already started on schedule. Special events chair Mr. Vivek Puri will be sending out the registration procedure for pre-season t20 after F...eb 22nd, 2021. Those clubs who have already deposited money for 2020 T20 will not be required to pay, but these clubs are requested to fulfill the registration procedure to maintain a paper trail. BCMCL will remain flexible and consider all options to have cricket this year, but this all depends on the Provincial sports organization and Via sports giving us the final go-ahead. On behalf of the BCMCL committee and all Clubs, I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Muhammed Shahid Naqi and Salak (Salim Akbar Cricket Club). Mr. Naqi was a Batsman wicket-keeper and has won many championships during his playing career. May his soul Rest In Peace. I have also attached a link for Vaccine registration and encourage everyone to take their shots and return to normal soon. https://www2.gov.bc.ca//covid-19-provincial-supp/vaccines

Recently a COVID-19 outbreak was identified in Calgary Cricket League (except for our Calgary Cricket Community). We advise all our members to get tested who m...ay have been in contact with those players directly or indirectly It's unfortunate but we need to keep our families and our society safe and we have to work with each other. The game of cricket involves sharing a mutual cricket ball and mutual batting gear. Team huddles and celebrations further pose a challenge in flattening the curve. We further heard and saw some other leagues in Calgary (due to their executives greed to make little bit money) are commencing field play without following any guidelines from Alberta Health Service. Calgary Cricket Community Board, under guidelines of Cricket Canada and ICC have cancelled the entire season 2020 as safety of our members take priority. We will come out of these times stronger and more passionate about our beloved game. Till then stay safe and help flatten the curve

Dear all, There was an unorganized tournament that took place at Crescent Park on 11th and 12th July. Although this tournament took place without our knowledge and permission, we have learnt one of the players who either took part as a player or just came as a spectator is now Covid-19 Positive. BCMCL committee would like to remind everyone these games are being played without ground permits and insurance should anyone get injured or any other incidents BCMCL is not to be hel...d accountable. We would also like to inform players who were present at above-unorganized tournaments to watch for Covid-19 symptoms and call health authorities for contact tracing. We do not want to go back to phase one or lose a loved one. Best Regards Yatish Dabholkar BCMCL President 2020/21

Just FYI, Our statistician is advised to refuse all player registration forms if they are not emailed via official registered club email address with BCMCL. No player registration form is being accepted from personal emails. This helps us to maintain the guidelines approved by PSO. Clubs are responsible for ensuring every member abides by the guidelines for Covid-19 posted on our website, and every member registered understands them. BCMCL committee is not liable for any injury or infection contracted in the field of play.

Gentleman, BCMCL Return to play guidelines have been uploaded on our website along with the 2020 season player registration form. The player registration form is in two pages, which also includes a waiver form. Please read and need be explain it to your club members before submitting it to our stats desk. Player registration has to be emailed only via your registered club email address. Mr. Mohan Kumar (Cricket BC Secretary) and Mr. Rashpal Bajwa ( Cricket BC and Cricket Can...ada Vice President) have put in many hours coming up with guidelines and waiver forms. All these documents were submitted to Viasports for approval so that we can get back to 22 yards. At this point, we are in the process of getting permits issued. We have been indicated by cities that only practice permits will be issued, and organized sports games will only take place in Phase 3 reopening of BC. Players and umpires' safety is our top priority. Keeping that in mind, we will also be reviewing the guidelines and come up with fines and penalties if Return to play guidelines are not followed. If we do not follow the instructions approved by Viasports, our cricket could come to a grinding halt, or even worst is due to our negligence someone gets infected. All fines and penalties will be conveyed to Clubs prior to the T20 Season start day. FAQ 1) When is the season starting? We don't know awaiting city permits. 2) How many games will we have? Unknown at this point, since we have no dates for the permits yet. For example if we get permits in August, we may have to scrap T20 and think about T10 only. 3) How many teams are participating? It all depends on when our start date is since some teams may not want to play T10. 4) Are we going to have the same structure as Pre-Season T20? It all depends on the number of teams willing to play. We may have only two divisions or more. We are also open to an idea of conducting T20 as per our approved division structure of the 2020 regular season. 5) What are my season dues? TBD by BCMCL committee depending on how many games we get to play and formats. So in the short situation is all fluid, and we are all looking at similar questions to be answered. I can assure you on behalf BCMCL Committee as soon as we get an indication of permit dates, we will move as swiftly and quickly as possible. Till then, stay healthy, fit and be kind. Practice social distancing and wear masks in public places. BCMCL and Cricket BC are not responsible for anyone getting infected with Covid-19 in the field of play. Best Regards Yatish Dabholkar BCMCL President 2020/21
