MESSAGE FROM REEVE KIDD October 8th, 2020 Thanksgiving this year will be very different like many other things in 2020. The fact that we should not be having large family gatherings to celebrate the holiday and that we continue to social distance and wear masks when out in public makes this holiday different that any other. ... In these times of continuously negative news stories and changing messages and rules it is very hard to stay positive. Thanksgiving is a time for us to give thanks for what we have in life and for all our family and friends. If we take a moment we can all come up with a list of things to be thankful. We live in an area where social distancing is usually easy to achieve. We can go for walks and do physical activity outside. Most services that we use in our day to day life are readily available. The services of our hospitals, ambulance, fire, police, public works have continued to serve our community without any interruption. Number 1 is that the number of confirmed COVID 19 cases has remained very low in our area. I’m sure you all have many others things that you can be thankful for. Most years these are services that we take for granted in our busy every day lives. This year on thanksgiving, we should take time to be thankful that our community is still a safe place to live, work and play. October is Trails Month in Beckwith. We have a beautiful trails network in Beckwith Township if you visit the Township website at www.twp.beckwith.on.ca you can find a map along with the October Trail Challenge details on how to submit your kms and photos as part of the trails contest. Going for a walk on the trails this long weekend is great family activity with easy social distancing opportunities. This also provides physical activity and it is a proven fact that being out in nature is good for our Mental Health. I encourage all to continue to use common sense with mask wearing, social distancing and limiting our exposure to others. By doing these simple things we can continue to keep our community safe. I hope you all have an opportunity this weekend to get out and enjoy the fall colours in Beckwith Township. STAY SAFE Sincerely, Reeve Richard Kidd
