This beautiful sunny day has me dreaming about our future and counting down the (unknown feels like forever) days to when we can fill our patio with happy faces! Not just our patio, but seeing the patio at the bakery full of families and ice cream, people watching the ferries go by at the Springwater and hoping for a glimpse of whales passing through, people learning our history at the Gaol, doors open at the thrift store, market peeps bustling around. You know, the good ol days. Just the thought gives me hope and warms my heart.

You are invited to the Second Not Really Annual Bistro Pumpkin Carving Contest! As you all know, we have always loved to give back to our community and so what better way to do that this October than to host a Pumpkin Walk!! Important notes:... All entries will be displayed along the spooky path in front of the restaurant (water side) Think park and walk in a big circle :) $10 cash entry fee donation. Winner will receive half the donated funds and the Ag Society Heritage Fund will receive the other half. Its a 50/50 folks! Kids 12 and under can enter for free but will not be eligible to win (unless they want to make their $10 donation) Access to the walk will require a $5 cash donation and will give you a chance to vote for your favourite pumpkin! If you want to win the monies you will have to enter a pumpkin ;) Walk and Judging will take place Friday October 30 from 6-8pm Your carved beauty must be delivered to the Bistro Friday, October 30th between 11-2pm. Your glorious pumpkin must also come with a lightsource that will last a minimum of 3 hours and not require a plug in. Should you dress that beast up, make sure you do so in something you are ok with possibly losing or getting ruined. We are going to make this super fun, super safe and super awesome. Tonight is our last scheduled Open Mic. Its not you, its us. Or maybe its Covid. We hope to continue something musical but perhaps on a monthly basis, assuming there will be support for it. We have had a fantastic run and will miss it tremendously. Maybe we will see you tonight, maybe we wont but to all those who have supported us by coming out to listen or play precovid, thank you. And to those of you that have come out this summer, there are no words for how deep our gratitude is. (or watch) On a side note, we are beyond ecstatic to let you know that we had a member of the Ministry of Health visit us from Vancouver for a few days. We had no idea who he was until after the fact. He told us that of all the places he has been so far we were the first place that he felt truly comfortable and safe and that we have the best protocols in place that he has seen yet between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland! We were so thrilled to hear this as we have put so much thought and effort into our reopening! We hope you all are feeling it as well

This post is somewhat bittersweet. First the sweet, we are happy to announce that effective this Thursday, June 25, we will be open 7 days a week until 9pm! The bitter is we will no longer be open for lunch Mon-Fri. Our new hours are as follows: Mon-Fri 4-9 and Sat/Sun/Hol Mon 12-9. We had really wanted to extend our hours back to what they were pre-covid but its just not feasible at this time. All the new precautions that we have implemented are very costly and we have reall...y tried to maintain our pricing and not apply the Covid Fee that so many are as we know that we are not the only ones that took a massive hit. Lunches are just not busy enough to make this happen. As always, we are not just thinking about today but we are looking forward to fall and making sure we can still keep our doors open. We know people will be disappointed but we hope everyone understands we are trying our best! PS: You might want to make a dinner reservation for Canada Day dinner because now that we will be open we have something awesome in the works! See more

Last night we had our first Open Mic since reopening. We feel it was super successful. It was an incredible night to host musicians on the patio. In keeping with distancing, we were able to have a "full house". We are always happy to receive feedback so if you were there last night please feel free to send us a message and let us know how we did. We want to make sure everyone feels safe eating out with us during these times and we are working very hard to make that happen. Thank you for all your support!
