In 1909 the Socialist Party of America organized a Women's Day in New York City, few German delegates proposed at the 1910 International Socialist Woman's Conference that "a special Women's Day" be organized annually. March 8 became a national holiday there for the fist time in Russia in 1917. The day was then adopted by the feminist movement in about 1967. The United Nations began celebrating the day in 1977. Commemoration of International Women's Day today ranges from bein...g a public holiday in some countries to being largely ignored elsewhere. In some places, it is a day of protest; in others, it is a day that celebrates womanhood. At Bertacchi Family we celebrate womanhood everyday with our creations but today we want especially wish you: Happy Women's Day! In the picture: Clara Zetkin and Rosa Luxemburg in January 1910

We were very glad to host on the 5th and 6th of October the Italian Design Days @ Interior Design Show Vancouver. The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada - West, the Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver and the Italian Trade Commission Toronto are organizing a series of events called Italian Design Days @IDS during IDS Interior Design Show Vancouver... In our new shop we met alumni of Naba Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Domus Academy and Istituto Marangoni for a chat regarding their life-changing study experience in Italy and the mark that Italianness left in their design career. Within the framework of this series of events, the new Italian Design Map website will also be officially and publicly launched. The Italian Design Map is a powerful online tool that features Italian and Canadian businesses and helps to promote the beauty and excellence of Made in Italy design, outside of Italy. The platform also provides visibility to Italian brands that are not represented in Canada yet, and are looking for representation. For more info: https://italiandesignmap.com/ Special thanks to Caffè Umbria Canada!

The first hat to be called a pork pie was a hat worn primarily by British and American women around the mid-1800’s. It was often worn with a small feather or two attached to a bow on one side of the hat. Today the wearing of a pork pie hat retains some of its 1930s and 40s associations. Fashion writer Glenn O'Brien says, "the porkpie hat is the mark of the determined hipster, the kind of cat you might see hanging around a jazz club or a pool hall, maybe wearing a button-front leather jacket and pointy shoes. Do you recognize the singer wearing it in our pics? We created a porkpie made of merino wool. Warm and stylish for this coming winter! Purchase it online: https://bit.ly/33R8NLt or come to try in it our store!

Amedeo Clemente Modigliani (July 1884 24 January 1920) was an Italian painter and sculptor who worked mainly between Italy and France. He is known for portraits and nudes in a modern style characterized by a surreal elongation of faces, necks, and figures. In his portraits, without chiaroscuro, often figures are adorned with dramatic hats. His art is still of great influence in our creations. Did you know him?
