Thanks Adventure Central Newfoundland for letting us be a part of this wonderful experience. Especially a big thank you to Jeremy and his wife who joined us on Beyond Words Tours! Are you thinking about visiting Gander?
Have you taken the tour? Maybe you just know the Newfoundland 9/11 story from reading a book, watching the news, or even seeing the musical! We want to hear everyone's favourite story. Is it about the animals who were stranded among the passengers? Or perhaps the party that was thrown for the children while here in town? Share yours and maybe you’ll even read one that you didn’t know before!
We are so excited to share this article with you all. We have so much fun doing the tours with our guests and love to share the experience with everyone!! Have you considered joining us on Beyond Words Tours? https://o.canada.com//come-from-away-tours-and-other-reaso
Well, we’ve been featured in some pretty awesome places but Gander-opoly definitely ranks in one of our favs! The board games features well known places in Gander, highlighting some of the great things our town offers! Not only did the North Atlantic Aviation Museum get a square, but Beyond Words Tours is sitting next to it. A perfect pair if you ask us
It has been a crazy couple weeks here at Beyond Words Tours! We are so lucky to be able to share so many stories of that week in 2001. We’re having so much fun offering tours daily this summer, and would love to have you join us! Did you know that we also offer tours to motor coach groups as well? We can join you on your bus for a short visit around town or you can do the full Beyond Words Tours experience of Gander! This is a group we had this week talking to one of our locals in Gander Collegiate.
Gander may have had 38 planes land here in 2001, carrying just under 7,000 passengers. However, our neighbours in Halifax actually had the most in all of Canada with 47! While this article focuses a lot on Come From Away, get a taste of what was happening in Halifax during September 11th, 2001. http://www.bbc.com//20190212-come-from-away-why-we-need-th
The Gander International Airport is where those passengers started their journey in 2001. It’s where the tour begins as well. Come join us to learn what those ‘Plane People’ would have experienced when they first arrived in Gander! Tours run daily at 1:30pm leaving from the North Atlantic Aviation Museum.
On the fence about whether or not to take the tour? Check out what our previous guests think of the tour. Introducing our newest tour guide for Beyond Words Tours! Katerina Lane is joining us for her very first year here at the North Atlantic Aviation Museum and could not be more excited to be giving tours of Gander. She is excited to be able to provide tourists with information about her hometown and province. Having grown up in Gander and having heard many stories about the local events of 9/11 (and being a huge Come From Away Fan), Katerina feels that she has much knowledge to share. She will be joining Abby, our current Tour Manager, in providing Beyond Words Tours in Gander throughout the summe!
Today is the first day of our tours for Summer 2019! Every day this summer we are hosting a Beyond Words Tours. Join us to learn more about the Town of Gander and the events during September 2001.
