701 LBS of donations today dropped off All is this was started by two little girls coming home from school asking how they can help the food bank in a BIG way! And since we’re BIG GUNS we thought let’s do it! After speaking with Mary & Evan at the #friendsinneedfoodbank in #mapleridge we were told this entire spring they were unable to collect donations as they normally would due to covid! ... During this time I’d guess there are more in need of a little help than usual! So we reached out to our supplier Sunil at SSR Cedar and asked if they would like to help in any way as well. They matched our donation of $1000 which blew us away with their generosity!! Then on top of that our Shingle REP from IKO donated $150 from the company and then our 2 girls donated $50 of their own money. How do I know when my asphalt shingle roof needs replacement? Are there clues to look for before telltale waterstains appear on our ceilings? . There are several clues, and the biggest one is age. If your roof is more than 20 years old, there's a good chance it's due for replacement. But younger roofs can fail too, so it's a good idea to inspect a roof at least every other year. At Big Guns we do a bi-yearly inspection of your new roof & gutter clean to make sure your covered! We recommend not using a ladder, though, if Doing a quick inspection yourself. Binoculars are easier and a lot safer, and you can spot most problems from the ground. . Here's what to look for: numerous shingles that are lifting up, cracked or missing, with curled edges, or with smooth dark areas, which indicate that the protective granules have worn off. Also, go into the attic on a sunny day and, with the lights off, check the underside of the chimney and vents. If you see little pinhole spots of light, the flashing is shotanother indication that the roofing might not be in good shape. .
