Danielle was raised in Dartmouth but has also lived in Korea for eight years. She moved back home and recently started a business making makolli. Her rice wine has been selling at the Alderney market for almost a month now. (@ksrjugawinery) She's a PAHS alumnus and was big on soccer and basketball back in the day. Her decision to move back home was mainly based on raising her children in a good environment: "I like the clean open space for the kids, Seoul is so busy." Another reason why she moved back: "All my friends are here that I've had since elementary. I have really good friendships which are super important."

Nothing says Big Dartmouth Energy like a fair appearing out of thin air

Meet Willy, a performer, small business owner, entertainer and Dartmouthian by choice. I’m definitely a downtown Dartmouther Willy said, laughing. I moved here about 10 years ago. It hasn’t been an entire upward trajectory but I wouldn’t change it. Willy has fully immersed himself in the Dartmouth community and recently started an official small business @ponponfoods with his wife. I love meeting people and hearing their stories, the business allows me to connect and sh...are with so many. I love the returning costumers that come buy our goods at the market. It’s always great to reconnect. When asked what he loves about Dartmouth, Willy reflected for a minute and then said You know what motivates me every morning? It’s coming down Ochterloney and seeing that big Canadian flag in the distance. What a great place to live. I’m proud to live here.

We’d play street hockey non-stop. All the kids around Woodlawn would come and we’d play until dark. It was a simpler time then. Life’s biggest frustration was hearing ‘CAR’ yelled when you were on a breakaway. I miss it. My best friend would come up from Wolfville and play with us. He passed away three years ago from cancer. Every August we get the Dartmouth boys together and have a memorial tournament in his honour to raise money for his wife and kids. It’s a fun way to remember him.
