We would like to send our deepest condolences to the McDonald family. Robbie was one of the founding members of the Wildrose Rodeo Association. He was also our ...very first president. Robbie has played a great role in the development of rodeo and Alberta. He will be dearly missed.

The McDonald family would like to thank everybody for their immense amount of support we have received over the last few days. We would also like to thank every...one who joined us to celebrate Robbie’s life virtually with the live video stream. A very special thank you to Pastor Joe Kuraitis and Mission View Funeral Chapel. Another huge thank you to Rodeo Announcer Gary Gross for sharing our dad’s eulogy and for being part of our family. Thank you to the pallbearers for joining us. We want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

RLRAS would like to extend their heartfelt sympathy to the family and many friends of Robbie McDonald. At the age of 87, Robbie passed away at his beloved ranc...h in the early morning hours of December 21st. Robbie was an icon in the rodeo world and he loved good bucking horses. Robbie and Mary never missed a rodeo in the Lakeland area and he was instrumental in getting a lot of rodeos going in this area. He was so proud of all of his family and never missed an opportunity to let people know what they were up to! If you ever met Robbie you never forgot him. If you went to the ranch he made you feel like family. He will truly be missed by all. RIP Robbie. See more

Bucked some horses at uncle Calvin’s tonight! Number 48 Josè will be headed to meadow for the futurity in a few weeks!

No rodeos this summer but lots of time to work cows and train the new ranch hand Daisy from Little Demon Heelers. She’s been learning a lot from Trixie

Fencing on the KI ranch today. Hard to stay 6 feet apart while fencing. Made ol’ uncle Calvin earn his feed today! He’ll probably sleep till noon tomorrow.

Got the first rider trip on a few colts yesterday! Thanks for the help Shane & Sarah Henry, Johnny Routhier, Karis Henry, Dustin Lega, Matt Stronach, Sidney & Dylan McDonald and Chummy!

** ATTENTION ** Unfortunately we will be cancelling the Lac La Biche Open Rodeo which is usually held at the end of May due to Covid-19. Our tentative 2020 schedule is as follows. All of these dates are tentative due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. Newbrook Open Rodeo: June 20th, 2020 Thorhild Stampede: July 1st, 2020... Lac La Biche Open Rodeo (2 Day): July 31st & August 1st, 2020 Ermineskin Open Rodeo (Panee Rodeo Grounds): August 15th & 16th Stay home & stay safe everyone so we can get back to rodeoing soon!

The old boss has been cooped up all winter. It made his day to stand out in a pen of horses on his 87th birthday!
