Here is a progress shot of one of our current projects, which should be wrapped up soon, just in time to get our client in for Christmas! I helped my client find and purchase this condo below the original asking price. It gave her room in her budget to do a fairly big renovation, which has been so fun! We will be sure to post before and afters once it’s all completed. When I originally suggested a black island, our client was just a *little* bit hesitant , but she eventu...ally came around and is so happy with the result. It’s always a good day when we get to visit @muskokalivinginteriors Many of their designs utilize a neutral palette to create a stylistic cohesiveness throughout their projects. Have you ever thought about designing your home with a neutral palette, but weren’t sure where to begin?... A well-curated neutral palette brings a crispness and simplicity to a design, and when done right appears to be effortless. However, there is a lot more that goes into creating this look than meets the eye. Here are my top tips to help you create an effortless looking neutral palette: 1) Lots of texture - consider the texture of your materials, and go for something with more contrast. Keep it interesting by bringing in texture via rugs, sofa fabrics, pillows, throws, and furniture and lighting finishes. 2) Varied wood tones - effortless neutral designs require depth and complexity to be special, so if everything is in matchy-matchy tones the design will fall flat. Mix deeps rich tones (for example, in the flooring) with medium shades (perhaps in the coffee table) and some lighter finishes (maybe in shelving). 3) Interesting shapes and silhouettes - with a neutral colour palette, a great way to provide visual intrigue is through the use of a variety of shapes and silhouettes. Lighting fixtures and furniture pieces are an easy way to add interest to your space. 4) Pattern or a subtle layer of soft colour - a little bit of colour against a neutral backdrop really helps to make a space come to life. Create even more dimension by incorporating your chosen colour into patterned textiles. 5) Mixed metals - adding metals to a neutral palette is grounding, adds depth and draws the eye giving it somewhere to land. Choose one dominant metal type with 1-2 accent metals. If mixing metal types concerns you, stick with one metal in different finishes to add variety.
