Alright everyone, we are in the midst of a pretty major storm cell and heavy rainfall event. With conditions as they are we are asking riders to NOT RIDE until this weather pattern has cleared up and the ground has had a chance to dry up. Riding trails in conditions like this is irresponsible, reckless and creates irreversible damage to the trailbed. Thanks everyone!

Support the clubs that keep our riding areas open! Running a YouTube channel I've had the oppertunity to ride a lot of places and talk to people from all over N...orth America and the world. One thing I've learnd is we have some of the best riding in the world right here in our backyard. Please support BCORMA and your local clubs. See more

We're now getting back to the typical Lower Mainland wet weather. The club has posted numerous times about wet weather riding, yet some riders continue to ride trails in wet weather at Blue Mountain. I cant begin to describe the level of frustration felt by volunteers that continue to toil away only to have their work destroyed for a photo op. Read the wet weather guide and make better decisions. The BMMC invests huge amounts of labour, funds and planning to keep the trails o...Continue reading

SuspensionWerx (https://suspensionwerx.com/) has let us know they'll be providing us with 5 X $100 gift certificates to be given out at the next 5 trail maintenance days. Show up for a trail maintenance day (typically the last Sunday each month) and we'll pull names from a hat and each of the next 5 trail days, somebody will walk away with a $100 GC for SuspensionWerx! Thank you SuspensionWerx!

It's going to be a great weekend for riding! Please remember a few things when you're out enjoying our trails... 1) These trails were built by volunteers with shovels, saws, and labor. It didn't happen overnight. There's a cost associated with all of this, and the club relies on memberships and donations to make it happen. Buy a membership, come to a monthly maintenance day. 2) Some trails are one way. They are easily identified by the giant red stop signs that clearly indic...ate the trail is one way. That means don't ride past the sign. This is done to protect from soil erosion, sensitive trail bed areas, and trails that cannot sustain uphill traffic. 3) Pack out your garbage. The amount of cans all over the hill is atrocious. If you packed it in full, it will be even lighter in your pack empty on the way out. 4) Unload and head out while being respectful to the businesses along 256.

Please read the following letter from Rec Sites and Trails BC. BMMC has posted wet weather riding guidelines numerous times. Recent choices made by the ridership has now put our area at risk. Please make smart choices about when and what trails to ride. If youre going to ride in extremely wet weather, know that you are doing your part to risk the future of McNutt. ... If youre going to ride in extrememly wet weather and you choose to film it, post it on the internet and advertise it, you may be driving the final nails in McNutts coffin. For those of you that think it cant be closed, I urge you to research past riding areas in BC. Good Morning BMMC, Its come to our attention that some riders and club members have been riding in contravention to the general wet weather guidelines that many trail organizations in our area including yours have adopted. As our Partnership Agreement holder for the Blue Mountain Motorcycle Trails, we want to work together with Blue Mountain Motorcycle Club to maintain the trails in safe riding condition with as minimal impact to the local environment as possible. I know that you have been working over the years to address the issues identified in the 2003 Forest Recreation Management Strategy, the 2009 Forest Practices Board (FPB) Complaint Investigation, and the 2009 Hydrology report. All of these reports and investigations identified soil erosion as a major concern as impact to water quality, wildlife, and forest health. I understand that you have communicated these concerns to the club via social media many times over the last years; and also that you are not alone in facing this issue, other riding areas all try to prevent wet weather riding by establishing guidelines to follow. However due to the reports described, particularly the FPB complaint investigation, there is added scrutiny for the Blue Mountain area and compliance with the recommendations in the reports are part of the rationale for establishing the area under Section 56. In addition, public posting of riding in the rain and environmental degradation damages the local reputation of the riding area, as well as the perception of motorized use in a more general sense, which I know is a long uphill battle. Please continue to convey this message to bring the ridership in line. The District Recreation Officer may choose to post rules at the trails restricting riding; or perhaps require daily tracking of precipitation data on site such as is done on industrial sites in the bush in order to be open for riding. I look forward to seeing this resolved and working collaboratively going ahead. Thank you, Recreation Sites and Trails BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development

Wow, so many new faces on the trails and in the group. Please, if youre new (or old, either way)read this and then go to www.bluemountainmotorcycleclub.com and buy a membership, come out to a work party and be part of what makes Blue Mountain what it is. World class single track. A couple housekeeping items.... 1- Parking for Blue Mountain is at the north end of 256. Be respectful to our industrial neighbors there, they have been gracious enough to allow us the space until... our staging area is completed. Tell your friends. 2-Parking for Blue Mountain is at the north end of 256. NOT Kanaka industrial park. NOT McNutt road. NOT 128th ave. Tell your friends. 3)Please stay out of the gravel pit at the north end of 256. While it may be tempting to do your best Ronnie Mac, thats private property and its trespassing. Tell your friends. 4)Some trails at Blue Mountain are one way only. Read the giant signs and abide by them. The Dude would. Tell your friends. 5)Trails require maintenance. That means everybody. Pick a rocky section and spent 10 minutes rolling rocks. This makes a huge difference in the flow and safety of our trails. Tell your friends. 6)If you want to get involved (and we really hope you do), contact the club. And tell your friends.

I am incredibly excited to announce BMMC is getting a staging area!!! After years of tireless advocation by numerous members, Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC) has confirmed BMMC will be getting a new staging area to be constructed this summer. This follows the announcement a few months ago of our section 56 approval. What does this mean for us? We will be building a gated parking area across from trials trail. It will be accessible to paid members, will feature an unlo...ad ramp, toilets, and a place to stage our events from. Once we have concept drawings to share they will be posted here. None of this would have been possible without the continued work from BMMC volunteers. BMMC has cultivated relationships with multiple stakeholders over the years including First Nations, City of Maple Ridge, 3 separate woodlots, RSTBC and many more, working together to develop a plan that works for everyone and secures BMMC members a place to recreate. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the process and the paid members that continue to support BMMC. Ryan Thom President Blue Mountain Motorcycle Club

***Important information regarding Route Of All Evil and Blue Mountain activities*** Hi everyone, its with a heavy heart that the BMMC has been left no other choice than to postpone this years Route of All Evil. We have left this decision to the very last minute in hopes that things would turn around with the COVID19 situation but policies in place limiting gathering size leave us no choice. This is a real heartbreaker for all the volunteers and riders that look forward to t...his yearly event. A lot of the ridership chooses this event as the time to purchase their yearly membership, so I would encourage each and every one to go to the website www.bluemountainmotorcycleclub.com and purchase your membership there. BMMC puts the funds from these memberships directly back into the trails. Now for the good news! We have been in contact with Rec Sites and Trails BC during this outbreak and we are now able to resume regular maintenance parties so long as we are not working one on top of another. I am proud to say that we have been able to keep our mountain open and operating through these trying times and provided a healthy outlet for all those that ride. That being said, NOW is the time to give back. With the increased ridership during the outbreak, many of our trails have seen an extraordinary increase in traffic and wear. A small group of select volunteers has been toiling away (without riding) trying to keep up. Plainly stated, its not enough. Ladies and gentlemen, BMMC needs your help. We need riders to engage the maintenance and repairs. With our sport growning to the size it has, the current level of support is not enough. Sunday May 31st is our next trail work party. We have numerous projects requiring shovels and manpower. In addition to the scheduled work parties, there is hardly a weekend when members are not on the hill working on something. If you want to be a part of the solution, (and I hope you do) please contact a member of the trail committee. Time for a chat everyone, pull up a stump. (But remain 6 ft away) BMMC has received a complaint from a business owner at the north end of 256. This complaint was sent to bylaws, RCMP, BCORMA, City of Maple Ridge, and eventually to Rec Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC). The complaint alleges that riders are congregating at the north end of 256 (which is our current staging are) but riders are not maintaining physical distancing during loading and unloading. 2 riders were observed an...d recorded passing a bong back and forth, others bench racing over a couple beers. I have spoken with RSTBC regarding this situation, and I can assure you RSTBC and BMMC doesnt want to close any trails. Currently all campsites and staging areas under RSTBC are closed, but trails remain open permitting we can maintain physical distancing. Please. We are at a tipping point both with the COVID situation as well as the parking situation. At any time, the city could erect no parking signs and enforce it by towing vehicles. The city has been gracious in allowing us to park there with no restrictions, as they know we are working with RSTBC to secure a proper staging area. The choice is simple here. Cut the congregating and bench racing or risk losing access to our area. Blue Mountain is a valuable recreation resource and to have access restricted even temporarily would be a huge loss for every rider. With the long weekend coming up, lets keep the pre and post ride activities to a minimum and maintain distance so we can keep our little piece of sanity during this unprecedented time. Thanks, Ryan Thom President Blue Mountain Motorcycle Club

The Blue Mountain Motorcycle Club works extremely hard to maintain access to one of the most challenging riding areas in BC. As a non-profit Society we depend on funding raised primarily through club memberships and BCORMA trail supporter sales. If you havent already purchased a 2020 club membership and BCORMA trail supporter please do, without your support we cant continue our efforts to protect your access to the trails. To purchase a membership visit our website www.bl...uemountainmotorcycleclub.com join the CLUB! Trail maintenance days are a great opportunity to meet new riders and club members and give back to the mountain. It takes more than just cutting dead fall to keep trails open, shovels in the dirt for drainage and trail tread repair, bridge replacement, rock rolling and braid blocking are all part of the required work. Next maintenance day is coming up Sunday Jan 26, see you there!

Club Memberships are now on sale at the online store: https://bluemountainmotorcycleclub.com/store/ *Note that the club membership price increased from $40/year to $50/year for 2020. The cost of materials and tools have been going up, so its costing the club more to maintain and keep the trails open. Still a very low price to pay for access to world class riding!

The Fraser Valley Regional District is currently developing an Outdoor Recreation Management Plan for the region. As part of this process, we would like to know more about how and where you recreate, and if you have any suggestions or concerns regarding specific outdoor recreation places in this region. Link below to Complete the survey https://www.seasketch.org/ In addition to this interactive map, we will also be sending out an online user survey within the next few weeks... to collect more information about outdoor recreation in the region. Filling out this survey helps the FVRD gather information about recreation in order to, among other things, secure funding for recreation.

Lower Muzz re-route. Note that the East end of Lower Muzz has a minor re-route away from the small hillclimb up onto the Hydro transmission line tower base. BC Hydro has expressed concerns over potential erosion near the base of their very expensive transmission line tower. So, the club re-routed the trail slightly. Now, when you come out of Lower Muzz (going East) and hit the logging spur, instead of going straight up the hill, youll go left (north) about 30ft and then up a less steep section and eventually re-join the original trail. Please do not re-open the hill - please respect BC Hydros concerns over erosion near the base of a tower supporting very high value power transmission lines. In the picture, you can see Lower Muzz re-routed and the crosshatched red area is closed.

Hey guys, just a reminder that trials trail has been designated downhill only. The sandman entrance is just up the road. This has been done to address the erosion from thousands of bikes climbing the same trail on the way in. Please respect this decision. The signs have grown legs and wandered off a couple times now and this costs the club funding we could spend elsewhere. Zip up to sandman, start your ride there, no exceptions, no excuses.
