Books On The Transit 02.04.2021

In partnership with Toronto International Festival of Authors, we dropped a copy of HOPE MATTERS, the non-fiction work of two sisters and their mother. The wide-ranging poems focus on the journey of Indigenous peoples from colonial beginnings to reconciliation. But they also document a very personal journey their own as a family. Written collaboratively by all three women, Hope Matters offers a blend of three distinct and exciting voices to come together in a shared song of hope and reconciliation. #booksonthetransit

In partnership with @festofauthors, we dropped copies of GODS OF SHADOWS. Poet Lorna Crozier has always been brilliant at fusing the ordinary with the otherwordly in strange and surprising ways. Lorna returns with this book that offers a polytheistic gallery of the gods we never knew existed and didn’t know we need. We wonder, how can poems be at once so profound, original, and lively, and also so much fun? #booksonthetransit #booksonthemove #toronto #festivalofauthors #godsofshadows

In partnership with Toronto International Festival of Authors, we have dropped copies of CROW. Crow tells the story of Stacy Crow Fortune who returns home to Cape Breton with absolutely nothing to lose, after being diagnosed with three inoperable brain tumours. Amy Spurway weaves humour, twists and heart into this story. Do you have an interesting family story? We’d love to hear it! #booksonthetransit

In partnership with Toronto International Festival of Authors, we’ve dropped copies of DAUGHTERS ARE FOREVER by Lee Maracle. Follow a woman’s self-discovery in a novel that incorporates an innovative structure one based on Salish Nation storytelling to depict the transformation of Marilyn, a First Nations woman who is alienated from her culture, her family, and herself. We hope you found a copy of this moving work about First Nations people in the modern world, and the importance of courage, truth, and reconciliation. #booksonthetransit
