Celebrate with Braille Literacy Canada: 30th Anniversary #Braille Trivia Night! BLC was established in 1990 as the Canadian Braille Authority. As a strong and vibrant Canadian #braille community, we have much to celebrate both as we commemorate our past achievements and look ahead to 2021, the 200th year since the braille code was initially developed. In the first of several events that are being organized in honour of these momentous milestones, we invite all to join us for ...a special virtual braille trivia night - Come join the fun and test your knowledge of braille and BLC! Plus, there will be a door prize! When: Friday, December 4, 2020 Time: 8:00 PM Eastern (5pm Pacific/6pm Mountain/7pm Saskatchewan/Manitoba, 9pm Atlantic) Location: Zoom (link will be sent to you upon registration) To register, e-mail [email protected] by Wednesday, December 2, 2020. This event is free of charge to all members. (Please note that if you are part of an organization that is a corporate member of BLC, this is free for you as well!) The cost is $20 for non-members, which is also the cost for a yearly membership! To complete a membership form and put your $20 towards membership, go to http://www.brailleliteracycanada.ca/personal-membership.asp - or write to [email protected] to find out about other payment options. Come and help us celebrate our anniversary with a fun night of braille trivia. Everyone is welcome! We kindly invite all those who are able to consider a donation in support of our many programs, including: Brailler Bounce: we repair and re-home unused braillers to recipients across Canada Braille Zoomers: We provide peer-support through a monthly virtual get-together group for adult and older adult braille learners, and distribute braille starter kits which contain a variety of braille reading and writing tools Edie Mourre: A scholarship for those pursuing braille transcription certification Bi-monthly virtual workshops on a variety of braille related topics And much more!
