At Brain Power, we are committed to ensuring our students learn about prestigious extracurricular opportunities for them to explore and learn from. Public speaking student, Ana Milu, was selected from many applicants for Toronto's competitive Soulpepper Curtain Up Program.Students ages 14-20 applied (and she's only 14!) to be mentored by Toronto's top performance artists and educators. Ana will be provided mentorship in podcast writing, world-building in an audience's mind, voice coaching, and more. Her application was outstanding (we read it!). Brain Power Alumni, Ilia, has been featured with his groundbreaking artificial intelligence work in an article from MIT Technology Review! WOWso proud!The article focuses on a radical new technique that lets AI learn with practically no data, and Brain Power alumni, Ilia, is currently on the frontlines of developing it! Ilia is currently working on his Ph.D in Statistics at the University of Waterloo, and has already landed some work in Silicon Valley. Staff Bookworm of the Month! Meet Jenn! Jenn has her B.A. in English and History from the University of Toronto and completed her M.A. and Ph.D at Queen Mary University of London! Jenn has published reviews in several journals and organized an International conference too! She is now an Associate Instructor at Brain Power as well as an Admissions Ambassador! HERE IS HER BOOK RECOMMENDATION: I liked the book because Franzen is an amazing author and writes amazing and viv...id characters. The story is about a family and their lives together as they navigate contemporary American life and its pitfalls. The book speaks to American capitalism and the increased movement of the economy towards technology and the impact that this has on the different generations in the Lambert family. The tone of the novel is both comedic and sad, and it left a lasting impression. See more

Brain Power’s very own Dr. Karine Rashkovsky was a judge (Oct. 4th 2020) for NASA's Toronto branch of NASA's International Space Apps Challenge 2020. If you haven't heard of it, Space Apps is the world’s largest and perhaps the most prestigious hackathon and is coordinated each year by NASA through a network of worldwide, regional partners. The turnout was awesome, and some of the brightest, youngest minds were able to pitch their ideas (among whom of course were some Brain Power students!) Some even won prizes!
