PHP 7.2.0 has been released by the php.net team, and is now available for all of our PHP hosting customers. From their release notes, they have been making some interesting changes, such as: Removing MCrypt (deprecated for a while now) and adding libsodium... Added support for Argon2 Password hash, a modern algorithm for securely hashing passwords Improved SSL/TLS constants to provide better security. And More! You can get more details about this via the official release announcement at http://php.net/releases/7_2_0.php. If you want to give this a run, you can set your PHP on the Web Hosting tab to 7.2.x. As for going forward, PHP 5.6 first available on Aug 28, 2014, and PHP 7.0 (from Dec 3, 2015) are going to be end of life near the end of the 2018 year. During the beginning of Q1 2018, we will be working with our members to move them to the newer PHP versions. There have been significant speed and resource utilization improvements from 7.0 and onward compared to the PHP 5 releases.

For our web hosting members, we recently rolled out PHP 7.0.28 and 7.1.12 to our hosting servers. Overall, mostly a bugfix release. Nothing that will change how your site works, however we consider it good to keep up with the latest updates. Coming up, for those that are looking forward to the next major PHP release, it looks like PHP 7.2 is almost at the 7.2.0 milestone: http://php.net/archive/2017.php#id2017-11-09-1. If all goes well, they will be making the final release on Nov 30, 2017. We have been preparing for the next PHP 7.2 release, and our hosting servers are awaiting the day when it is ready.
