Accident on HWY 1. Both south lanes blocked where accident occurred close to Best Western Days Inn. Divert on to 10th ave or last one would be Haliburton onto ...old Victoria Rd if going North. North bound lanes are at a crawl.

BNN FINAL UPDATE: All clear. BNN TRAFFIC UPDATE (7:00pm): It appears the accident is mostly clear and the after-work rush has passed. Last we saw, traffic was 1 lane Northbound, but is flowing well enough. I suspect the vehicles will be cleared within an hour or so and everything will be back to normal. BNN TRAFFIC ALERT: There appears to be a MVI on the Parkway, just North of the Cedar exit. We recommend you take the Island Highway if at all possible.... BNN Final Update: All Clear BNN Traffic Alert: There is stalled logging truck before the South Parksville Exit in the Southbound lane (right after the speed limit changes from 120 to 90km/h). Traffic is single lane.
BNN FINAL UPDATE: All clear now. BNN TRAFFIC UPDATE: Northbound Highway 1 is still heavily congested. Cedar Rd appears to better now, however Harmac Rd at Cedar Rd and Wilkinsons Rd at Cedar Rd are both backed up a bit due to the detour. MacMillan Rd at Harmac Rd may be a better option. Expect delays whichever route you take this morning. BNN Update: Power has been restored to most of North Nanaimo. There are still approximately 10,000 customers without power in surrounding communities. Thanks to all the BC Hydro crews that are working in this miserable weather!! BNN Power Alert: A large portion of North Nanaimo, Lantzville and Nanoose are without power due to the snow storm.
