Posted @withregram @westendmamas Have you ever watched the children’s movie Up? Children usually don’t think a thing of this, but this image resonates with so many of its adult viewers. This month is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and 15-20% of women experience this loss. You probably know a handful of women yourself but may not know it, which is why it is so important to continue to end the stigma around miscarriage and infertility. We must s...hare our stories so others who experience this tragic moment do not feel alone. Please help Myas family with her recovery and time left with them. Posted @withregram @official_doulasteph This is going down in Ajax. If you can’t make the bake sale but want to assist with the hospital costs for sweet Mya there is Go Fund Me and of course you can DM me for the direct EMT account. Her Story - Hi everyone! My name is Breanna and this is to raise money for my 9 year old boxer, Mya and if you know me at all, she is my everything.... Starting last Wednesday (July 29th), We noticed Mya having trouble walking on her front right leg and throughout the day she starting showing signs that she was in pain. We ended up taking her that night to King Hopkins Pet Hospital. They looked at her and thought that she twisted her leg. We were told to come back if it didn’t improve and we were sent home with some pain meds. The next morning her condition worsened and she was in a great deal of pain. Pain meds weren’t helping and we took her back. The vet noticed she was waddling instead of walking. He took x rays and was concerned that she had developed a condition called intervertebral disc disease or it may be cancer under her spine. He referred us to a neurologist at Animal Health Partners Hospital in North York, so that she could have an MRI. We took her on Saturday and at this point she was crying in pain and could hardly walk. They took her in and because of COVID we had to wait in my car. She was unable to get an MRI that day so they scheduled her for one on Tuesday. They increased her pain meds and gave her a shot to help with the pain. My family and I have taken turns since Wednesday sleeping with her. Her condition worsened and by Monday not only were the pain meds not helping, she couldn’t stand on her back legs and we had to carry her to go to the washroom and when she tried to pee she fell because she couldn’t stand. We noticed her back right leg had swelled so we took her immediately back to Animal Health Partners, where they hospitalized her. She was put on very heavy pain medication and had a catheter put in. They proceeded with the MRI the next day. The neurologist called us and diagnosed her with a condition called discospondylitis,

Posted @withregram @newlifeprenatal OMG! LOOK at that spoon full of antibodies! Colostrum is produced in your breasts from about 16 weeks of pregnancy until around the third day after your baby’s birth. Some moms notice drops leaking from their breasts in the weeks before the birth, others don’t. Rest assured that your breasts are producing colostrum in preparation of baby’s arrival whether you see it or not. Colostrum is a thick, sticky fluid. Although it may also be whi...te or even translucent, it is most often a buttery yellow. Regardless of the colour, colostrum is so precious that lactation experts fondly call it liquid gold. Colostrum is a superfood, tailor-made for a newborn’s needs. It is highly nutritious yet extremely easy to digest. A newborn’s stomach is only about the size of a marble. It can hold around 5 7 milliliters of milk on the first day, and initially it cannot stretch. This is why the low-volume, highly concentrated liquid gold is so perfect. Consider your colostrum baby’s first immunization. It is extremely important for your little one’s immature immune system. Some experts estimate that up to 60% of a newborn’s immunity comes from colostrum. It is packed with an antibody known as secretory immunoglobulin A (sIgA), and every drop teems with white blood cells (leukocytes) that defend your vulnerable baby against viruses and bacteria. For this reason, colostrum is extra important for premature babies. Colostrum is excellent for your baby’s digestive system. A newborn baby is born with what we call a leaky or highly permeable gut. There are gaps between the cells lining the mucosa. It is through these gaps that viruses, bacteria and allergens enter baby’s body. Colostrum plugs up these gaps like putty so that no harmful pathogens can pass through. This permeability of the gut explains why exclusive breastfeeding (giving your baby nothing but breast milk), is so important for the first six months. If Baby ingests anythingelse even a little water this seal is broken and takes up to 4 weeks to close again. Posted @withregram @pump_momma_pump Has anyone here used an SNS? . Repost @smurphynola84 #Breastfeeding looks different for different families! Because I had a breast reduction, I don’t produce enough milk to breastfeed exclusively and I supplement with formula. With this third time around, I’m finally using a #supplementalnursingsystem (#sns) to help feed Jack. With this he gets my #breastmilk and formula at the same time while continuing to stimulate milk production a...nd help keep my supply up. In just a week my supply is more than double what it was with Jean or Charlie and we haven’t had to introduce a synthetic nipple before he’s capable of distinguishing between them and mine. . . . . . #thisiswhatbreastfeedinglookslike #bfar #bfarmom #lactationaid #feedingthebaby See more
