There are some products that just are not worth fixing because of how badly they are designed making repairs expensive and frustrating. This barrel harness is a prime example of a poor design that does not allow easy repair. In this case the webbing had failed. Poor quality yarn, UV; I cannot tell? I had to go deep into the innards of this back panel to sew on the new straps with buckles. I then had to close up the innards and then deal with multiple layers of fabric, b...inding tape and webbing. Needles do not punch through fabric; they find the path of least resistance. Unfortunately they can only deflect through a certain number of layers before they break. In this case this repair cost me 5 needles in order to fix the item. I will try to sell my next customer one of my barrel harnesses the next time as it would be cheaper than fixing this product. And my barrel harnesses are repairable because I design products to be repaired. See more

Two birds with one stone solution. Customer not happy with how the sleeping pad was held under the sleeping bag and the sleeping bag had become too small for the customer over the years. Cut out the sleeping pad area that did not have down and attached a panel under the bag for a regular sleeping pad. Second pic shows the sleeping pad sticking out of the envelope at the bottom of the bag. Reminds me of a project that I did years ago that never saw the light of day This idea truly makes sense as you really do not need insulation (natural or synthetic) under you. It does not insulate when compressed. Bonus is reduced weight, bulk & cost of sleeping bag with few if any consequences to the user.

Interesting request to build a lightweight spray cover for a C4 which is going to be in the Yukon RiverQuest. Canoe is gone and being driven up to Whitehorse. One of the other paddlers is picking up the completed covers tonight.
