A motorcycle helmet can LITERALLY SAVE YOUR LIFE. Check out the stories behind these REKT helmets... 1 HELMET VS. MECHANICAL FAILURE. Rider experienced rear w...heel lock-up at highway speed & then lost control. After being thrown from his bike, it landed on top of his head. This person was able to walk away from the crash. 2 HELMET VS. DEER. This is a pic from 2017. Rider from North Dakota hit a young buck on an early morning ride. He sustained an injury to his left arm but was in good shape otherwise. The deer was not so lucky. 3 HELMET VS TREE. The owner of this helmet was riding near Weir, Quebec when she lost control on a curve & collided face-first with a tree. She broke her nose, her wrist & her ankle but had no other major injuries. She was grateful she had a helmet with a full face visor. #HelmetsForTheWin #protectyourlidfromtheskid #brainbucketssavelives #motorcyclesafety #motorcyclesafetythemeweek

Motorcycle helmets need to be replaced if: They've been in a collision You see any visible signs of damage like cracks or exposed metal You've dropped it ...from a height on a hard surface They are more than five years old (even the best-kept helmets degrade over time...check your manufacturer's recommendations however as some may have shorter or longer lifespans). In general, you don't want to store your helmet near fumes or direct heat sources as both of these things can degrade the helmet's materials & glues. For a lot of riders this means storing your helmet inside rather than the garage. One last word of advice...NEVER BUY A SECOND-HAND HELMET unless you you know how it was cared for, in addition to its collision history!
