The most recent survey by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association confirms that across Canada, 87% of veterinary clinics are still limiting client access to the building. In Ontario specifically, that number is 88%. WE ARE DOING THIS TO PROTECT YOU as well as our staff, our veterinarian(s) and public health. Please be patient and understanding. Dr. Julie Amey

Stage 3 of Ontarios re-opening will not affect our current policies. We are required by our regulatory body (College of Veterinarians of Ontario) to follow every precaution to keep ourselves, our staff and our clients safe. The directive from the College states : "Veterinarians have a responsibility to society to limit their services and decrease COVID-19 exposure. Stay laser focused on the triage of what is urgent and must be seen. Use telemedicine to its fullest to manage both triage and non-urgent cases. Control access to your facility. Enforce physical distancing inside and outside your facility. Assure the personal safety of you, your staff, and your clients. " We appreciate your understanding. Imagine yourself trying to keep 6 feet away from another client when your very friendly dogs insist on saying hello..... Dr. J

Good morning! Another change in strategy ! We are further increasing our safety measures to help reduce the possibility of COVID-19 virus transmission in our community. 1) all non emergent appointments and surgeries for the next three weeks will be or have been rescheduled. If you have not received a call and know you have an upcoming visit scheduled here, please call us. We have left messages for some clients but some dont have answering machines. ... 2) Clients will no longer be entering the clinic-NO exceptions. WE WILL COME OUTSIDE TO YOU. We WILL be wearing a mask, gloves & gown. Please do not be offended. This is for the safety of ALL. PROTOCOL FOR SICK PATIENT APPOINTMENTS AND PRODUCT PICKUP: 1. Please remain in your vehicle. Call the clinic from your vehicle (613) 409-7387. If you have a sick pet, staff will ask you questions by phone regarding the issue. If you are picking up medication/food, advise staff of such. 2. Medication/Food: staff will take credit card payment over the phone while you are in your vehicle. 3. Sick pets: Dr. Amey will conduct an examination and will call you on your cellphone as you wait in your car, if she has additional questions and/or to update you on her findings, further diagnostics that might be needed and proposed treatment. A diagnostic plan that outlines costs will be presented over the phone. If your pet needs to stay with us for diagnostics, all will be explained by phone. 4. At the conclusion of the examination/diagnostic testing/treatment, payment will be taken by credit card over the phone and any questions that you may have will be answered. Your understanding and patience is most appreciated as we do our best to stay healthy so that we can continue to help your pets. Should Dr. Amey become ill, plans are in place for our emergent patients to be seen elsewhere if needed. THANK YOU !! PLEASE CALL IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS OR QUESTIONS. (613) 409-7387

If you are self isolating or under quarantine for COVID-19, there are important steps to take and remember to treat the animals in your home just like people. If someone in your home is infected, the same isolation that applies to people applies to pets in order to prevent possible transmission to other people. -- restrict contact with all animals -- avoid all contact with your pet including petting, snuggling, sharing your bed, sharing food, and being kissed/licked ... -- when possible, have other people in your home care for your pets -- if you must care for your pet, wear gloves and a mask, and wash your hands before and after -- if youre sick and have had contact with your pet, dont allow your pet to wander outside THERE IS NO CURRENT EVIDENCE THAT PETS ARE CARRIERS OF COVID19---however, they could act as a physical route of transmission if droplets were on their fur, etc. (this is called fomite transmission) :)

Good morning. Things are changing quickly. IF YOU HAVE ANY ---ANY--- RESPIRATORY ILLNESS SYMPTOMS-- please do NOT come into the clinic. Please call before coming or call from your car. We will come out to the car as appropriate and we will be wearing masks and gloves at minimum. IF you do NOT have any symptoms, please note that upon entry to the clinic you will be greeted by a barrier so that we can maintain the 6 foot social distancing rule. WE ARE DOING OUR BEST TO PR...OTECT OUR TEAM AND OUR CLIENTS. Please also note the following: a) you may order a 4 week supply of food and a one month supply of medication. Our suppliers are being pressured by individuals trying to stock 8 week supplies of food. 4 weeks is plenty. If you become ill, and no one is able to come pickup pet food for you, we will arrange delivery and payment can be made over the phone. b) As of today, we are rescheduling all non urgent appointments except for kittens/puppies who will need initial vaccinations/boosters within a specific timeline. You will be receiving a call from our clinic and we appreciate your understanding and patience as we do our part to help minimize contact and the spread of Covid19. c) Sick patient appointments will be spread out to help avoid/minimize contact between clients. We will still require you to remain behind the barrier until we have discussed risk with you. In some cases, we may take your pet and ask you to wait in your car or in the reception area. PLEASE UNDERSTAND that we are trying to keep everyone healthy. d) IF YOU CANNOT GET HERE AND YOU NEED MEDICATION OR FOOD, please call us and we will make arrangements to have it come to you. e) We are cleaning our facility with even more zeal than usual and we will disinfect the reception counter, door handles and debit machine every hour at minimum, and after every use. f) Clients will be asked to remain in the reception area and will not be allowed to the inner areas of the clinic. This also means we will NOT have client access to our washroom facilities. We apologize for any inconvenience. g) Routine surgeries will be rescheduled as much as possible in order to respect the social distancing rules. Our team, our clients and our pet patients are of utmost importance to us. We cannot help anyone if we as team members become ill. We will do everything possible to see sick patients and appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we move forward. This situation is changing by the hour and day. We are following the directives of the medical specialists as well as our own licensing body and provincial association. THANK YOU Dr. Julie Amey & Bridge West Animal Hospital

Beloved clients: WE ARE HERE FOR YOU. If you have been out of Canada, even to the USA, in the past 14 days, we do ask that you CALL FIRST before coming to the clinic for any reason. The government is advising people to self isolate if they have been out of Canada. If you need food/medications and no one else can come to the clinic on your behalf, PLEASE CALL and we will make delivery arrangements. In order for us to continue to help ill animals, we as a veterinary team mus...t remain healthy, if possible. IF YOU HAVE ANY SIGNS OF DISEASE, PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE CLINIC. STAY HOME. CALL US. We will make arrangements to provide care for your pet on an individual basis based on the issue at hand. I will provide more updates later today. THANK YOU for your patience and understanding as we endeavour to keep ourselves and our clients safe and healthy and so that we can continue to look after pets in need of help. Sincerely, Dr. Julie Amey See more
