VAL and DAVE are married!!! Working in this industry I always say one of the best parts of my job is the family we make through work friends, the people we partner with, and the magic we make together. Well yesterday was some kind of magic alright!! Watching Val of @callingmountains promise forever to her love @puradavida was one of the best weddings we have ever seen. The family and friends that surrounded them were vibrating with joy. The laughter was non stop. The music... must have been heard around the world. It was the best day ever. With summer winding down I am really trying to stay true to this. With my fourth child starting school this fall, it will be the first time in 14 years that I have not had a child at home with me full-time. What does this mean for me? I don’t know. But I am definitely holding on to these last few days of summer and these last few days having all my babies at home. With wedding planning I often tell my couples to focus on their marriage and let me focus on the wedding. That ...way my team can make sure that the day runs perfectly and we can ensure that it will be the best day of their life because they are thinking about each other and not where the candles go. First looks- it’s a very popular new wedding tradition. But how do you know if this is for you? Here are a few pros & cons to help you make your decision a little easier! Pros: 1. You'll get to see each other before the ceremony. Any stress, fears, jitters, or nerves will be gone by the time the ceremony starts. ... 2. If you're going to cry when you see each other for the first time, you'll be able to freshen up before the ceremony! 3. You won't miss cocktail hour if you take your portraits and your family formal portraits before the ceremony. Cons: 1. Your parents, bridal party, and guests won't be a part of when you see your spouse for the first time. That can be a very emotional, meaningful moment for them, especially the parents. 2. Your dress might get a wee bit dirty during photos. If you go to a park, gardens, or let's be honest, anywhere outdoors, it will be 100% impossible to keep your dress pristine. 3. If you do your portraits before the ceremony, you won't actually be married in your portraits. That bothers some people, doesn't bother others, but should be considered. The lovely bride is my 2nd cousin. Our Mothers are 1st cousins. We grew up together running back and forth from North to South and back again. Our family history is part of Whistler's history. Our Grandfathers and Grandmothers were some of the first people at Alta Lake. There are stories I could share with you of our childhood that only our family knows, and maybe one day I will... But for now I have a wedding to plan! One month today, Madeline will marry this man Tynan, and two families will become one. I am SO excited to hear the stories of Tynan's childhood, to see my family all together, and to watch these two become Husband and Wife.
