Today is #ChildrensGriefAwarenessDay 1 in 5 children lose a loved one before they turned 18. Children’s Grief Awareness Day seeks to bring attention to that often support can make all the difference in the life of a grieving child. It’s important to have open and honest communication with grieving children, says Pam Foster, BGH’s Grief and Bereavement Coordinator. Let them know they can ask questions and ensure you answer their questions using clear simple language and av...oid euphemisms such as passed on. Pam provides support and advice for grieving families at the hospital. If you have questions about how to speak to your child about their grief, contact Pam at 613-345-5649 ext. 52174. Washing your hands can help keep you and your loved ones safe from all sorts of viruses - including the flu and COVID-19! You can get little kids to wash for 20 seconds by turning it into a sing-along. If you need some inspiration, try singing 'Frére Jacques' twice. #FlattenTheCurve

The new work stations in the Donald B. Green Tower are not only larger than the ones they’ve replaced, but have also been designed to be as accessible as possible - which increases the ability to engage with patients and families. On the Complex Medical Management, Palliative Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation, and Integrated Stroke Units, patients will be monitored from one of three work stations on each unit. This design allows staff to move quickly and efficiently between tasks, while also providing them with easy access to supplies. The stations also include upgraded electronic monitoring systems, and workstations on wheels that allow them to access patient’s digital records while remaining at the bedside. Welcome to the #NewBGH

We want everyone to enjoy their Thanksgiving celebrations. However, we remind you that it is strongly advised that we limit our gatherings to people in our own ...household (if you live alone, you may have a mutually exclusive close contact with one additional household.). If you decide to celebrate with people you don’t live with, provincial regulations dictate no more than 10 people at an indoors gathering and 25 people if it’s outdoors. Ensure all attendees do the provincial screening tool before attending so they don’t have any COVID-9 symptoms. Encourage two metre physical distancing with those outside your household by arranging seating in advance to appropriately space household groups, provide hand sanitizer if a sink with soap and water isn’t available and think of ways to limit people touching the same objects. Open the windows, if possible. See more
