#ThrowbackThursday this week is one of our more recent throwbacks, looking at November 2019. Brockville Tourism, along with other locations in the RTO-9 region, were able to promote our region and local vendors at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto. It was such an amazing experience for both our staff and the vendors we were able to bring with us. The booth was designed to look like Trousdale's General Store, which can be found in Sydenham ON. #Brockville #BrockvilleON #BrockvilleOntario #MyBrockville #ClearlyBrockville #BrockvilleNaturellement #1000Islands #SouthEasternOntario

Welcome back to #WayBackWednesday! We're looking back to a million years ago, otherwise known as Pre-COVID 2020. Brockville Tourism was really fortunate to get to promote at the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier Curling Canada in Kingston, Ontario. Both Rebecca and Kat represented Brockville Tourism over the few days we were scheduled with Visit Kingston and South Eastern Ontario. Despite it being rather chilly, we had a great time meeting curlers and curling fans from across Canada, promoting our beautiful city! #Brockville #BrockvilleON #BrockvilleOntario #MyBrockville #ClearlyBrockville #BrockvilleNaturellement #1000Islands #SouthEasternOntario

Today we're looking at the physical tourism office for #ThrowbackThursday. It has gone through a few looks over the years, but 10 Water Street W always remained a fantastic location for the tourism office. Especially when the railway tunnel opened, it became a great place to give directions from. Many of our summer ambassadors can attest to giving the direction of "Just across the street and to your left"often throughout the summer when asked where the tunnel was! Walking in...to 10 Water Street W could almost be a metaphor for how many feel when they visit Brockville - small and cozy with everything you might need in it. Well located, not far from the action, and always felt like home when you walked in. #Brockville #BrockvilleON #BrockvilleOntario #MyBrockville #ClearlyBrockville #BrockvilleNaturellement #1000Islands #SouthEasternOntario

This week, our #WayBackWednesday is going back to 2012, during the rededication of the Sir Major General Issac Brock Monument during the 1000 Islands Wine and Food Festival in June. The bust was erected in 1912. It was a centennial project that was spearheaded by the General Brock chapter of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire remembering the War of 1812. For its 100th anniversary, Dayna Golledge, the special projects coordinator at Brockville and District Cha...mber of Commerce Tourism, took up the charge on leading this grand event. As you can imagine, the logistics were immense, and we’re so proud of Dayna’s accomplishments to this day. We were very fortunate that direct descendants of Sir Major General Issac Brock were able to join us from the UK and took part in the ceremony. Local dignitaries such as the Mayor David Henderson, MP Gord Brown, and MPP Steve Clark spoke at the rededication, and there was a parade from city hall to Courthouse Square with various military groups in attendance, including re-enactors and the local armoires. #Brockville #BrockvilleON #BrockvilleOntario #MyBrockville #ClearlyBrockville #BrockvilleNaturellement #1000Islands #SouthEasternOntario #DiscoverON #ExploreCanada #SirIssacBrock #GeneralBrock

It’s #ThrowbackThursday! You didn’t think we were going to leave #BrockvilleTourism’s history to just one day, did you? The Chamber of Commerce has a massive archive of photos, so every Wednesday and Thursday, you can look forward to a bit of Brockville history for the next few weeks! Today’s photo is filled with people who are no stranger to Brockville (or Canadian history!) This picture comes from Brock Days, and includes some notable Brockville residents, including Kerey ...Bolton, who was the tourism administrator back in 2004. Can you name one of the gentlemen standing with her? We will pick one the correct comments at random and they will win a Brockville Railway Tunnel ornament! You have until Monday, October 5th at noon to enter! #Brockville #BrockvilleON #BrockvilleOntario #MyBrockville #ClearlyBrockville #BrockvilleNaturellement #1000Islands

Welcome to #WayBackWednesday! We’re going to spend the next few weeks going back into our 17 year history at #BrockvilleTourism and highlight some of our favourite memories. Let’s start way back with our first Tourism Manager, Ann Weir, and then Brockville Economic Development Officer Dave Paul. This picture was taken in 2008, and they’re celebrating the arrival of the Pride of Baltimore in Brockville! The work towards our Tall Ships Festival was years in the making, as this ...was well before the first Tall Ships festival in 2013. Have you been to see the Pride of Baltimore before? #Brockville #BrockvilleON #BrockvilleOntario #MyBrockville #ClearlyBrockville #BrockvilleNaturellement #1000Islands

Happy #ThrowbackThursday! Have you been enjoying these quick trips down memory lane with #BrockvilleTourism and the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce? Today we’re going to look at a festival from 2011, the 1000 Islands Wine and Food Festival! In the first photo, we have Deb Hamilton (sales and retail coordinator) Kim Barr (then tourism manager) and Dayna Golledge (then special projects coordinator) celebrating local wines in the tourism office. We also have photos o...f the festival in full gear at the Brockville Memorial Centre, including a cooking demonstration. In the last photo, we have Dayna, Kim and Deb with our MPP Steve Clark, our late MP Gord Brown and former mayor David Henderson. Our tourism team chaired this festival for three years, and were so proud to showcase local wines, foods and arts. #Brockville #BrockvilleON #BrockvilleOntario #MyBrockville #ClearlyBrockville #BrockvilleNaturellement #1000Islands

It’s #WaybackWednesday! Time for some more history with #BrockvilleTourism and the Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce. We’re going to look back to 2007 today, and meet some of the movers and shakers in tourism back then. Joanne Poll (then tourism administrator), Laura Good (then Chamber of Commerce board member), Sueling Ching (then executive director of the Chamber of Commerce), Deb Hamilton (then sales and retail coordinator at the tourism office) are atop the 1000 Islands Tower during a Tourism Awareness Bus trip. These day trips allow tourism front line staff to get to know the area better so they can provide suggestions based on experience when people come in their establishment. #Brockville #BrockvilleON #BrockvilleOntario #MyBrockville #ClearlyBrockville #BrockvilleNaturellement #1000Islands
