Another example of why you should get your dryervents cleaned. This one was so clogged up that it built up moisture in the dryervent. Which turn the lint into a paper mashe consistency very wet.
It was past due to clean this dryer vent! Call Browns Chimney Sweeping at (506) 261-1027 for a professional dryer vent cleaning.
Every few months Browns Chimney Sweeping donates a portion of income to a local SPCA. This is a note of thanks from the Fredericton SPCA for the most recent contribution. When you choose Browns Chimney Sweeping, youre also helping animals in need.

This cold snap sure makes you want to warm up by a fireplace! And if were talking fireplaces, Rick Brown is your man. While theres nothing quite like wood ...heat, its no secret that a wood burning unit that doesnt meet code can cause major insurance hiccups when youre purchasing a home, not to mention potential safety hazards. Rick has been in the business for 8 years and knows exactly what to look for to protect your home, and your investment. (And of course a visit with Rick wouldnt be the same without a special mention of his Harley) Cozy up, and listen to his tips while we share a Patagonia Pale Ale from Graystone Brewing #pintswiththepros #rickbrown #wood #wett #syroidgroup #royallepage #bradleyseyes #gardinerrealty Browns Chimney Sweeping

Things I look for during a Wett Inspection of a Wood Furnace. CSA tag and clearances tag as shown. In the pictures of the duct work you will see there is not enough space between ceiling and duct. Should at least 2" of clearance. Tape measure shows less than 1".
To all my Family, Friends and Customers have a great day!

FIVE WINTER ENERGY SAVING TIPS Winter is fast-approaching, and with it comes cold weather. Homeowners are lighting fires and weatherizing windows and doors to keep the cold out. These are only a few ways you can save energy this winter. YOUR MOST EFFICIENT FIRE Save energy this winter by burning an efficient fire.Five Winter Energy Saving Tips Image.... When you burn properly seasoned wood, you will have a warm, clean burn. Burning fresh, or green, wood will produce more soot and creosote, drop efficiency in your chimney system, and even take twice as much wood to reach the same temperature. Schedule a chimney sweep so that a professional can clean the soot and creosote from your chimney system. Make sure that your chimney is in working order by having it inspected annually. YOUR ENERGY-SAVING CAP Instead of a metal throat damper, have a top-sealing damper installed. This damper, also called an energy-saving damper or cap, is installed on the top of the flue. When its open it functions like a cap, and when its closed, it closes with a tight seal so no air gets in or out. This damper should not be closed while a fire is burning because it wont let the carbon monoxide and smoke escape. However, when the fire is out, this damper will close tightly and prevent any cold drafts from coming into your house. These energy-saving dampers save homeowners money during the winter and summer! CLEAN YOUR DRYER VENT The average homeowner never gives the dryer vent a second thought after the appliance is initially installed. When the dryer becomes less efficient and needs two to three cycles to dry a load of clothes, we assume its just worn out. This couldnt be more wrong. A dryer that is less than three years old should not take more than one cycle to dry a load of clothes. If it does, the dryer vent needs to be cleaned. Using a dryer with a clogged dryer vent uses two to three times more electricity to dry one load of clothes, and shortens the life of your appliance by three to five years! Browns Chimney Sweeping cleans dryer vents year round, saving customers money, and preventing fires. UTILIZE ZONE HEATING Use your heat appliances to utilize zone heating in your home. Only heat the areas that the family uses the most. To do this efficiently, turn down the thermostat to a tolerable level, and then use your heat appliances to heat the rooms you most use. Gas appliances are great for zone heating. USE CEILING FANS CORRECTLY If you use ceiling fans in your home, make sure they are moving in the right direction. There should be a switch near the main body of the fan that will change the direction of the fan blades. During winter the fan should push the warm air at the ceiling down to the floor. If youre using a ceiling fan in the same room as your chimney, put it on a low setting so it doesnt affect your chimneys draft.
CHIMNEY CAP BENEFITS Chimney Cap Benefits - Your chimney cap is installed at the top of the chimney. As the first defense against water intrusion from the elements, it also offers other benefits that homeowners are unaware of. The chimney cap is often wrongfully overlooked and discarded. It prevents damage, saves you money, and improves the efficiency of the chimney system....Continue reading
Familys insurance company to pay $400,000 for death of firefighter who died in fire caused by a wood-burning stove. "The lawsuit said the homeowner had install...ed the stove in violation of code requirements and had never obtained a building permit or a certificate of occupancy after the installation of the stove." Installs of second hand uncertified stoves are most likely to be self installs with no permits. Stoves bought off internet or at big box stores also less likely to be professionally installed. These are huge issues that the industry and our community do not address enough. See more
This message means a lot to me because I try my best to do a good job and help people with their wood appliances. Thank you Patricia Hey Rick! My name is Patricia Mead. Yesterday you came and serviced our wood furnace. I just wanted to thank you for doing such a wonderful job. When I got home last night my husband had a fire going...the house was warm and there was no smoke smell...and its not below zero yet. In the past we couldnt start a fire in the fall because it would smoke the house so bad. We would just wear lots of warm clothing. I could go on and on but for your sake I wont. Just know that when I got up this morning I thanked God for you. Men of integrity are hard to find so thank you again. You have most definitely made a difference in our lives. Have a blessed day!
