We are very happy very grateful that TODAY we were able to make our first donation of 10% of our coffee sales to La Casa de la Amistad in Mexico. This non profit based in Mexico City does a great job caring for kids with cancer in Mexico. In recent times their has been a shortage of medical treatment for kids with cancer in Mexico. We have seen the work they do first hand and love what they are doing. Kids hold a very special place in the Brunch family and we are ove...r the moon to be able to help kids in Mexico that are going through a rough time. To be able to help in such a difficult time for these families warms our hearts and fills us with joy in these challenging times . The weekend is right around the corner and we’ll have fresh pan dulce and all our Mexican & traditional Brunch dishes. We look forward to cooking for you soon. .

Vancouver! Can you think of a better way to wake up with than with some Huevos Rancheros . Today we are featuring them as one of Mexico’s favorite breakfast dishes . A few facts about this dish so the next time you have them for breakfast you know a bit more about them . FEATURED DISH Huevos Rancheros... (pronunced WEH-vohs-ran-CHAIR-ohs) ===== ORIGIN Mexico It is known to be a dish eaten in rural areas in the country. ===== INGREDIENTS Corn tortillas, eggs, tomato and chile sauce Normally served with a side of beans. Add ons: Guacamole, bacon, tortilla chips ===== VARIATIONS Huevos divorciados- same style as the huevos rancheros but served with two sauces red and green. Huevos ahogados- Poached eggs in tomate chile sauce Huevos motulenos- Originally from the state of Yucatan. Same style as the huevos rancheros but you throw in the kitchen sink. This is our ofrenda de muertos at Brunch. In Mexico an altar is set up to remember the loved people that have died. They can be set up at home or in the cemetery. The ofrenda usually has objects that the deceased would appreciate and would make their spirits feel welcomed. Common items are food, sweet breads, drinks and candles. Traditionally the cempazuchitl (yellow marigold) is used throughout the altar as well as sugar skulls. At Brunch we are honoring three of t...he biggest idols in Mexico: Juan Gabriel, one of the best singer/songwriters the country has ever had. Chespirito, Mexico’s little Shakespeare a comedian, screen writer, director, producer. Cantinflas considered Mexico’s most accomplished comedian. We are celebrating the Dia de Muertos tomorrow November 2nd. Look forward to welcoming everyone to our Dia de Muertos Food Fest. Some people ask us how did we put our menu together. Being a multicultural family (mexican-canadian) we wanted to share our favorite Brunch dishes from both of our cultures, dishes we’ve enjoyed growing up and dishes we got to know as a family. Who has tried the Enchiladas Suizas at Brunch?!. They are our dish and the perfect meal to have now that the weather is changing and it’s getting colder. Three corn tortillas filled with your choice of chicken or cheese, covered in our special green tomatillo sauce and piled with grilled cheese on top and sour cream . One of our family’s traditions for the last few years was to have a big Brunch on the weekend. Being a multicultural family it was always a mix of Canadian and Mexican dishes but when our kids were born we added a whole other category to our brunches ... all sorts of sweets .
