The Ark Project invites you to join us in showing some love to the fierce and majestic snow leopard at this exciting art experience. Come out to Mercer Tavern and enjoy a safe community atmosphere or stay at home and create your own artist space to follow along as local artist Madison Dewar leads a fun painting class for all skill levels. More details on event. Online (all ages) and Mercer Tavern (18+) tickets available.

Happy #InternationalSnowLeopardDay ! The Ark Project invites you to join them in support of our fair-coloured friends at the first ever Ark Project Charity Paint Night on November 19th. It's the purr-fect opportunity to test out your painting skills with guidance from local artist, Madison Dewar, and create your own snow leopard themed painting. Participate at Mercer Tavern or from the comfort of your own home. Proceeds go to Edmonton Valley Zoo snow leopard conservation.
While we remember those who protect our country during Remembrance Day, lest we forget the contributions of animals. In our nation's capital, there is an Animals in War Memorial.
Save the date! Tickets for Zoominescence 2020 go on sale November 1. Info: https://www.buildingourzoo.com/events/zoominescence/
Thank you to all of you for supporting North Central Co-op's Fuel Good Day! We are so thankful for North Central Co-op for their continued support of Valley Zoo Development Society.
Since International Sloth Day is this week, how about adopting a sloth through our Adopt an Animal program? They'll be hanging around for you to check it out the link at: https://www.buildingourzoo.com/shop-1/#aaa
It's International Sloth Day! When it comes to being sluggish, sloths win the prize. They are the slowest mammals in the world, traveling on average 37 metres (...41 yards) a day! In fact, they are so sedentary that green algae grows on their fur, a handy camouflage from predators in its Central and South American rainforest home. Their extremely low metabolic rate allows them to survive on relatively little food that takes days, rather than hours, to digest. Sloths spend their lives hanging in the trees, foraging for food and sleeping 15 to 20 hours per day. Deforestation is the biggest threat facing the six species of sloths, as they depend on the trees for food and shelter. Our two-toed sloths, Luna and BB Cop, are part of the Species Survival Plan at the Edmonton Valley Zoo.
With only 12 days left of the Saving Our Species 50/50, the jackpot is currently at $4,520. Let's end the season with another sold-out draw! The 50/50 supports Valley Zoo conservation efforts including the Amur Tiger Conservation, Northern Leopard Frog Conservation, and Makira Natural Park. Tickets at valleyzoo5050.com
