At 4:44 pm Oct 23, all Town of Essex candidates received official notice of Election 2018 results. The Town of Kingsville website has been adjusted to reflect its unoffical combination of Kingsville-Essex Public Education supporters' School board member on the GECDSB. I'm so very grateful for such an outpouring of support both during the recent campaign, at advance polls and yesterday's Voting Day. Thank you! It's humbling to see the plurality of votes across both municipalities, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve in whatever way I can. We have much to do, a brand new school board and new inter-governmental relationships to foster and build upon. I'll continue to need your support, great ideas and vigilance. Municipal and school board elections are when local issues of daily importance to families, students and the community-which-you-call-your-back-yard come to the fore. Ongoing renewal, persistent change, that next thing, getting ahead of emerging concerns, and fixing what's broken - all call for ingenuity, vision, care, listening and risk. I'm enjoying seeing candidates for positions vying for Re-Election as I am, as well as those aspiring to a new office. Transportation is a...n area of constant vigilance as a school board trustee, as we contract planes, ferries, cars, buses of all kinds, taxis, etc. Did you know that other than those who require it for special education needs, transportation is NOT guaranteed for Ontario Students under the Education Act? The policy decision to provide it is determined locally, often within a local consortia.
