It’s the first day of spring, folks! Today we’re thrilled to welcome the equinox as we look forward to warmer and brighter days ahead. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we acknowledge the passing of our dear friend and colleague Amy Willier. She was a wise, dedicated member of our Indigenous Advisory Group, our Inglewood neighbour, and a valued Festival volunteer. She was a bridge builder who hosted our Australian indigenous artists at a local powwow who expressed how touched they were by Amy’s generosity and knowledge of traditions, protocols and culturally significant Treaty 7 locations. We will miss ...being met by Amy’s lovely smile at Moonstone Creation Native Gallery and Gift Shop. Words are insufficient to express the sadness and profound loss that Amy's passing leaves, given her large sphere of influence. Our sincere condolences to Amy’s family, friends and loved ones. As our friends at Moonstone Creation wrote: Please pray, smudge, be kind, do a good deed for another and fight the good fight. She would like that. Donations to support her family can be made via email to [email protected] Photo credit: Sean Dennie

Holiday cheer is on its way! Join us for the first ever Festival Hall-iday Market at Festival Hall on December 5 & 6. Tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can basis with all proceeds going to supporting Calgary Folk Fest. We have also waived the fees for all of our participating vendors so please come out and support them! As a small performance venue and proud Inglewood resident, we’re thrilled to highlight some of the amazing Alberta small businesses this holiday season. The safety of all of our vendors, staff, and patrons is very important to us so capacity will be limited on a first-come-first-serve basis. You may have to wait outside before you can be admitted so we hope you’ll grab a nice hot drink from Rosso Coffee Roasters on your way to the market and bring your Christmas shopping lists!
