The Super Bowl weekend is ahead and as always, we live for snacks. Anyone else going to recreate some Midway favorites for their game time spread? Blooming Onion anyone?
We love a good snow day, but we also can’t wait for sunshine and greener pastures. Thank you to BAR XP PHOTO for this incredible shot of Wanakas Rocket.
In honour of our visionary leader, Warren Connell, who was passionate about our city and was a true embodiment of the western values that bind and build our community. Thank you, Warren.
It is with great sadness that the we say goodbye to the woman who paved the way for generations of Stampede Royalty. The very first Calgary Stampede Queen, Patsy (Rodgers) Henderson passed away last month at the remarkable age of 95. According to her family, Patsy never stopped promoting the culture and values of the Calgary Stampede. She last rode horseback in the Stampede Parade in 1996, the 50th anniversary of her reign. In 2008, she was invited to lead the Parade as the Marshal, flanked by all of the other alumni as honourary Marshals. It was a special moment for everyone involved and was indicative of her life-long dedication to the Stampede Queens' Alumni as well as her commitment to community that began back in 1946. She will be greatly missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Our top bucking horses rolled into the Official NFR Experience this year after nine months with no rodeos, and proved why they were invited to compete among the best-of-the best in the world. Capturing an incredible 6 go-round wins over the 10 days of competition, we could not be more proud!

Join us in celebrating the 2021 Calgary Stampede Poster! Created by 22-year-old Calgarian Lexi Hilderman, winner of the 2021 Youth Poster Competition, the artwork symbolizes the passing of the storm and recognizes resiliency and optimism. Featuring a young Fancy Dancer with rainbow ribbons flowing from her regalia, the artwork was inspired by the image of a young woman named Katari Righthand from the Siksika First Nation. The Youth Poster Competition engages youth from acros...s Alberta in a unique learning and development opportunity. This program celebrates young artists, inviting them to be a part of history and create the iconic Calgary Stampede poster and receive one of the largest art scholarships in Canada. As the winner of the 2021 Calgary Stampede Poster Competition, Hilderman will receive a $10,000 scholarship generously provided by the Brandon Flock Foundation. Congratulations to this incredible young artist for creating this beautiful piece!
This week and next, our volunteers are helping to maintain the Field of Crosses on Memorial Drive, honouring the thousands of men and women from our community and across Canada who gave their tomorrows for our today. Lest we forget.

It’s Women's History Month, and today we’d like to celebrate Bertha Blancett. At the first Stampede in 1912, Bertha was the only woman to enter all of the women’s rodeo events and she played a significant role in paving the path for female competitors. As one of the first women to compete in bucking bronc competitions in North America, she was a true pioneer for women in western shows and rodeos.
Last week we celebrated the return of Youth Programs here on Park. Check out this special message from the Provincial Minister of Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women!

Albertan Betty Baker's song, "Land of Promise" is featured on the album and was sung by the cast for many years. Do you remember this hit from the Bell Canada Grandstand Show over the years?

To the greatest city on earth, you proved Community Spirit could not be cancelled. Thanks to all of you, and our valued partners for making Stampede 2020 unforgettable.
As the sun sets on Stampede 2020, we are feeling extra grateful for our community. Community Spirit cannot be cancelled.
Every year, the team looks forward to the biggest community home build we have. Beyond showcasing the best in design and home features, it also gives us a chance to put the spotlight on a local artist and thats a big deal! 2020 would have marked 12 years of the Dream Home Artist Project. After that many years, you might think weve seen it all. But each year, were left in awe of the amazing talent in the community. Our Dream Home team has seen almost all the mediums as su...bmissions for the project: photography, sculptures, painting, graphic design, but this year, the team was floored when they came across a unique mix of mediums paint and embroidery. The project invited local artists to submit examples of their work, with the opportunity to have their art displayed in the Dream Home, to be seen by an expected crowd of more than 100,000 people.

Its hard to believe its Day 10! Following a long tradition, the Closing Ceremony of Elbow River Camp presented by Enbridge closes out the Camp and includes a blessing for us all until we can meet again. Ishnish, siyisgas, and hand to heart to the Tipi Holders, their families, and the volunteers for all their work for Stampede 2020!
Behind the Spirit: A Visit with Tanner Aus presented by Bennett Jones. Tanner secured his first victory as the Calgary Stampede Bareback Champion in 2019, with a 92.5 ride that crowned him as winner. Bareback riding is the most physically demanding event, a true test of a cowboys strength with the riding arm absorbing most of the horses power. During a particularly exciting bareback ride, a rider can feel as if hes being pulled through a tornado, so being able to hold on for 8 seconds is quite the physical feat.
Todays Stampede Food Truck Rally is getting started a bit early! At Grey Eagle Casino and Spruce Meadows, you can get your Midway grub beginning at noon. Check out YYC FoodTrucks IG story for the full menus

Were excited to announce that Canadian country music legend and Calgarys own Paul Brandt will take the Stampede stage in 2021 as the headliner for the Bell Canada Grandstand Show. Created exclusively for the Calgary Stampede each year, the Grandstand Show will include the powerful music and artistic performances from Paul Brandt, The Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede and many more, topped off with a spectacular fireworks finale. In 2021, Brandt will not only work closely with the youth performers of The Young Canadians, but will participate as part of the creative team to develop a show that celebrates the spirit and vibrancy of the community. Tickets for the Bell Grandstand Show go on sale this fall.
Happy Final Sunday! Heres whats on the schedule:
