I’m in search of a intermediate rider who’s wanting to get some saddle time! Tj is a 14-yr old Tennessee Walker. He goes western and English. Loves his people ...and acts like a big dog. He can be pushy and test you at times and with spring here now he’s got spunk, so I’m looking for a rider with confidence and a firm hand to tell him who’s boss. He’s been in shows, trail rides on his own or in a group, I’ve taught lessons on him for 6 years, he’s great with kids. Bathes clips good with his feet. This boy needs to get back into shape as I want to start jumping him again, but unfortunately I cannot ride as frequently as needed to get him where he needs to be. If this is something your interested in please PM me! Tj is at a full board facility up forbidden plateau in Courtenay. See more
Covid message: As many of you are aware, cases of COVID-19 have began to climb on the North Island and has made its presence known within our community. In order to keep everyone safe while at the barn, please review our COVID protocols:... -Please do not come to the farm if you are feeling unwell or have a family member who feels unwell, have recently travelled or been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or has been possibly exposed to COVID-19 -Masks are mandatory on the farm at all times (while riding they may be removed, as long as social distancing is practiced) and maintain social distancing -Please sanitize hands upon arrival. There will be a table set up with sanitizer as you walk up to the barn door. -Only one adult per minor permitted. Please do not bring addition friends or family to the farm at this time. This is a difficult and stressful time for everyone. Please be kind and courteous to all those on the farm and continue with diligent COVID practices. We are looking forward to the warmer weather, and more safe riding time!
This is why we use hay bags, to try and increase the amount of time horses can be eating through out the day and decrease the chance of ulcers!

Merry Christmas to all of my wonderful boarders, and all of the great people I get to meet through my business
"Am I a good rider?" she asked, pensively, sat upon her 14.2 cob, covered in poo stains that she couldn’t quite get out before her lesson, that she had persuade...d her mum to buy a year ago for just 400 as he wasn’t wanted any more. "Why do you ask that?" her instructor replied, for she knew how this young girl felt - her eyes often lingered somewhere in between her horse's ears or the other side of the school when teaching. "Because I want to be one." Her instructor pondered on this for a good few minutes, whilst reassuring the nervous cob in front, and then said: "A good rider is not someone who buys flashy horses and competes every Saturday and makes it to the top within a year. A good rider is not someone who jumps the highest jumps or owns the fastest horse. A good rider isn’t made just because they’ve been riding since they were 3. A good rider is not someone who can move their forward horse forward... No.......... A good rider is that pony clubber you see fall off every time she gets on something new, yet still gets back on with a smile on her face. A good rider is that girl who cries in the tack room because of how her horse behaved and how hard it’s been to cope watching everyone else be successful, but to her it seems like she is the only one failing, yet still rewards her horse with a treat and a smile because at least he was better than last time. A good rider is the boy with the angel horse, yet doesn’t claim any of its successes for himself. 'It was all him,' he would say, 'I just sat to it.’ A good rider listens. A good rider is soft. A good rider makes sure the horse is always happy, As a matter of fact, a good rider often has nothing to do with the riding. If you love it, and you try, and you try again, even when you fall off and it was your fault, even when people point because your seat isn’t quite as deep as they’d prefer, if you never give up, that’s what makes a good rider." by Daisy Henderson

Well I decided to do a little introduction of myself My name is Brooke Callewaert, I am the owner and operator of Callewaert Stables. I was lucky enough to be raised in Saskatchewan surrounded by horses, and this is where my love began. I grew up barrel racing and checking PFRA pasture with my dad. I’ve competed in CCA Rodeos, and SBRA jackpots through out my younger years. I have also had the privilege of riding with some great cutting, cowhorse, and reining trainers thr...oughout my high school years. After high school I pursued my love of horses and attended Olds College Equine Science program, where I graduated with a diploma in Western Horsemanship. During this time I was able to further my knowledge in equine nutrition, husbandry, breeding and much more. I have a love for riding young horses and improving they’re skills to provide a great future for them! Callewaert Stables has been a dream of mine since moving to the island, I am happy to provide the best care possible for all horses that come through my doors! See more

"I always ask myself, riders, and especially horses: Can you? Could you? Would you? Why not! Let’s see. Let’s try. I find when I open the door to possibilities ...instead of making assumptions about the outcome, I’m consistently amazed at what happens" Extreme Wylene of Wild West Horsemanship #RTTH2021WildCard See more
Always projects happening around here! Few more posts to go in, then rails for the arena to be fenced in. We currently have two spots available for board as well!
Jeddy is looking for a special leaser! He is a 19 year old, 16.1 hand Warmblood/TB cross gelding. He has extensively shown in dressage and eventing. He was s...howing second and third level dressage before he retired from competitive life. He still loves to work, and would be happy showing in first level dressage, he's just not up for the strain it takes on his body to be showing at second and third level anymore. Hes an easy, uncomplicated ride, he loves to work and be challenged. He also loves to trail ride, either on his own, or out with other horses. If you are looking to learn more dressage, he is the perfect horse, he has all the buttons, and will make you ride properly to get them. He's kind and patient. I am looking for the right person to lease him two days a week from now until September. In September, a lease could go up to 3 or 4 days a week lease. I am happy to have someone do some lower level dressage shows with him. He no longer jumps, but he's happy to do pole work. He's located at a nice quiet barn in Courtenay, with an outdoor arena and trails out the back. I am a certified instructor, so if you are looking to take lessons that is totally possible. I am also open to your own coach, as long as I can chat with your coach and we are on the same page. My main goal is to find someone who is committed to riding on their days, and is looking to advance their own dressage skills, as well as maintaining Jeddy's. No beginners please, I offer lessons for beginner riders, but not looking for Jeddy to have a beginner leaser. Two days a week $200/month, or we can work out a package price if you were wanting a lesson as well. Serious inquiries only please. See more

Hi all! I am looking for a off property free lease for the love of my life! She’s a been there done that Red Mare with sparkle! Unfortunately due to rider in...jury (unrelated to horses) her current teenage rider is unable to continue with her! She is located in courtenay currently but will to free lease her anywhere south. Preferring Victoria area, as this is where I am located! I would love the opportunity to visit her occasionally to get my horse fix in. She was rode as a mountain trail horse for many years in Alberta. She received 3 years in an arena setting where she received some basic reining and working cow maneuvers. She has competed successfully and won several low key gymkhana/barrel competitions. She has jumped several regular and cross country courses, she enjoys jumping, but being a western gal myself she has not shown or development much in this area. She is very level headed in an arena or on the trail, but can have some extra spunk when put in front of a pattern! She has also competed successfully in several cowboy challenge events! She is 15 years old in a few months. She’s an absolute dear and would love you whole heartedly. No maintenance required besides yearly vaccines and footwork. She does require front shoes if being ridden on gravel more frequently as she has a tendency to be soft footed! She has been ridden by ages 10-60 and has been a great mount for me! Due to excessive costs for board On Vancouver island I have been unable to afford to keep her myself. Any options including cheaper board options, partial lease, trail horse , full free lease will be considered! Please send me a private message with any questions as I’m sure I’ve missed a few things
