http://www.cbc.ca//toronto-public-library-buys-records-1.4 The inclusion (or re-birth) of vinyl records in the Toronto Library is a really neat idea. As a recent convert over to the beauty of vinyl records, I agree that being able to physically hold something in your hands is why I am sure a big fan. This also explains why I still to this day eschew the use of an eReader and stick with my hard copy books!
Forgot to post this last week for #WhatchaReadingWednesday, but better late than never. I finished reading The Book Thieves: The Nazi Looting of Europe's Libraries and the Race to Return a Literary Inheritance by Anders Rydell last night, and one passage in the book really stuck with me (regarding the dispersal of plundered books): "The books also said something about the people who owned and treasured them: what they read and what they thought and what they dreamed. Sometimes they left traces in the form of underlined passages, notations, notes in the margins, or short comments....Each collection in its own right took form in a unique culture, a depiction of its creator's world, which was lost when the library was broken up. The books are fragments of a library, of a world that once existed.
Received a note in the library a few weeks ago alerting me to another LFL in the neighbourhood. Took a walk on this beautiful day with the family and found this lovely library at 10 Watts Crescent. Welcome to the neighbourhood! #ygk #CalvinPark

I've been thinking about this story since seeing it on the news this morning. Where does one draw the line of free speech? Libraries play a unique role in this discussion. If you have an idea of where that line can/should be drawn, please share (respectfully, of course!) http://www.cbc.ca//toronto-library-controversial-memorial-
