HOW TO TACKLE CHALKING PAINT ON YOUR HOUSE: A lot of homes with siding may begin to see a film of white and dusty residue appear on their surfaces after some years of exposure to the elements. This is common on clapboards and also stucco, where you can really notice the white chalking on the tutor boards! UV inhibitors are a component of the paint on this siding. This element will break down overtime and this is where you will see the chalky residue on the surface. Not only w...ill you see a residue, but the original colour of the siding may also start to fade because that component in the paint that protects it from the sun is deteriorating. That is why every so often you should wash and repaint your siding to restore its color and protection from UV light. What I like to do with my team in order to solve this problem is start with a TSP wash. This is a tri-sodium phosphate cleanser that will rid your siding of any chalk and dirt but will not deteriorate your actual siding. We scrub this product on the entire surface of siding and wash it off with a hose. Once the surface is dry we assess its condition; looking for areas where the paint has completely deteriorated. In these cases we apply a primer. After that we apply two coats of exterior paint and your siding will look fully restored and refreshed. Although, this is not so simple for Vinyl siding. One thing many people do not know is that the plastic is chemically made in conjunction with the factory paint. For instance if your siding was made with a light grey paint, it must be repainted the same or lighter colour. The product was made with a limit on the amount of heat it can absorb. If painted any darker, the siding will absorb more heat than it can handle causing it to warp. This is not the case for metal or aluminum siding. However, taking this precaution before painting your vinyl is very important. OUR OFFER - 3 year written guarantee - 5M liability insurance - Full WSIB Call 519-716-2893 for your free estimate. Making the wood around your house look new again! Many people ask us if we offer staining along with painting, or they simply make the assumption that we don't, but we do! We love turning greying fences and decks back into a healthy and protected area for your family!... Bare wood that is left unprotected can turn grey, get moldy, accumulate mildew and eventually it can also start rotting! It is much much more cost effective to protect your deck while you still can, rather than replacing it like some homeowners unfortunately have to do. Getting a regular stain on the wooden areas of your home will not only make it look so much better, but it will protect and preserve it for much longer as well! We believe that the key to making not only stains last longer, but paint projects in general, is putting a lot of time and effort into the prep work. Many homeowners have misconceptions about certain types of area preps, such as power washing. When used properly, power-washing can be a very effective tool for removing mold and dirt. However if you use it improperly, such as applying it too close or with too much pressure, you can splinter the wood and damage it. Our solution to this is using a cleaning solution to brighten you deck! We use Dekswood for our cleaning product. We scrub the solution into the wood, let it sit for 20 minutes, then wash is off with a garden hose. Doing this opens the pores in the wood and can effectively help to remove stain from mold, mildew and algae. Once all of this is done, we wait for the wood to dry before sanding away any imperfections, following this we sweep off any excess dust or dirt resulting from the sanding and start the staining process! We will always recommend 2 coats of a stain, whether it is semi-transparent or a solid opaque stain. The more solid the stain is, the better it is for durability. However, once you go decrease the transparency of the stain you can not go back. This means once you get an opaque stain, you cannot go back to a semi-transparent. Stains dry super quick, so once you're done you can enjoy your newly transformed deck/fence! So why wait when summer is approaching quickly, call us today to arrange your free online estimate and we can take care of all your staining needs!

Many people ask if we can paint, textured or popcorn ceilings, the answer is YES! We absolutely can in a few short steps! 1. You want to start off by placing drop-sheets all along the floor to protect it in case of any accidents! 2. You then want to brush away and dirt, cobwebs, dust and debris from your ceiling. You can use dusters, brooms, and vacuums, this helps to ensure that there is nothing in the way that will prevent the paint from adhering properly.... 3. Tape and plastic wrap your light fixtures to protect them! 4. Start by using a brush to cut the edges of your ceiling, you want to make sure you start out about 2-3 inches from the wall and then bring the line right up to the edge to make a smooth line. Making this line straight can be difficult on textured ceilings, what we have found useful is using a tool with a flat edge and running it lightly along the corners. This leaves a more flat edge that you can use to create perfect cut lines! 5. You can finally start rolling the ceiling, with a thick roller. You want to use light pressure and make sure not to over saturate the ceiling. Use long strokes and keep your roller wet with paint! 6. Use steps 4&5 for as many coats as you would like! To prevent visible streaks, ensure that the last coat of paint is in line with any windows or room lighting. A few more things to take note of is the finish of the ceiling, you don't want it to be reflecting any light so a flat/matte finish is optimal. Also, if your textured ceiling has never been painted before you need to prime it first, no exceptions. This causes a seal on the outside of the texture that stops it from absorbing moisture. If moisture gets into the textured ceiling it will weigh it down and most likely pull the texture off of your ceiling and onto your floor! The same precautions should be taken if there is any stains/water damage in your ceiling. This can be a lot of work and a lot to look out for. Why not let us take this off of your hands this summer?
