We downloaded this free app a month ago. Besides locating a lost hiker, it can help operators determine your location if you’re driving in an unfamiliar area and need assistance. It works in areas without cell service or where GPS isn’t accurate. It doesn’t track you like navigation programs. It can even help you locate a friend or family member in a park, concert, or stadium, when we return to those activities. #what3words

For many of us, we’re winding down this year’s abbreviated camping season so we saw fit to reminisce over a classic movie.

On a recent camping trip with out daughter and her boyfriend, we tried something new, a classic Hawaiian breakfast dish called Loco Moco. Traditionally it is a hamburger patty over steamed rice, smothered in mushroom & onion brown gravy topped with fried eggs. We used breakfast sausage patties instead. It was a stick-to-your-ribs meal!! We’d probably use crisped canned potatoes or hashbrowns instead of rice for personal preference and ease of pot & pans. But we all agreed on this: Why haven’t we been putting brown gravy on our breakfast dished all along?

Assembly instructions for Stuffed Picnic Sandwich aka Big Sandwich.

Camping Junkies 20.09.2020

On our first day of camping we always like to bring a Big Sandwich for supper, our version of a muffuletta. It is best made the night before, tightly wrapped in plastic wrap, and keeps well in an RV fridge or cooler. It is a round or oval country loaf hollowed out, spread with pesto, layered with provolone, ham, roasted red peppers, mortadella, muffuletta or tapenade, salami, and more provolone. Vary the size of the loaf for the number of people you’re feeding. After an afternoon of setting up camp, slices or wedges of Big Sandwich is welcome for an easy but hearty meal. Add potato chips or veggies if needed.
