Manitoba held the first PNP draw to the year 2021. Manitoba government issued invitations to international student graduates and skilled workers both within the province and outside Canada. Draw happened on 14th January 2021 with 272 immigration invitations (LAAs) being sent to the eligible candidates under 3 main streams of Manitoba. The public policy extended for temporary residents applying to restore status. Effective January 1, 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada is renewing a temporary public policy that provides more time for temporary residents to apply to restore their legal status in Canada. This public policy, which has been in place since July 2020 but was set to expire, recognizes that many temporary residents in Canada have been affected by worldwide health- and travel-related ...restrictions, and may need to remain in Canada for longer than they anticipated. Under the public policy, visitors, students, and workers whose valid temporary status expired, or expires, between January 30, 2020, and May 31, 2021, will have until August 31, 2021, to restore their status. In addition, the public policy will continue to allow former work permit holders applying for an employer-specific work permit to work while a decision on their restoration application is pending. New Policy Update. Good News for PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit Holders)!! Under the new public policy, International Students whose work permit is expiring or has already been expired can now apply for an open work permit. Following are the conditions under the new policy.... 1. have a PGWP that expired on or after January 30, 2020, or a PGWP that expires in 4 months or less from the date they apply. 2. still be in Canada. 3. have a valid temporary status, or be applying to restore their status.
