Amber Alert Parental Child Abduction: C21-70746 This evening at 5:26 p.m., WPS was advised of a parental abduction of a 2-year-old child. The concerns were ba...sed on the biological mother leaving a pre-arranged, supervised visit at a specified location with the child without legal authorization. Investigators from the WPS Missing Persons Unit investigated the background of the situation, including the legal framework. Once it was determined that the child was in an identified vehicle and likely leaving the city, the decision was made to initiate the Amber Alert protocol. At 9:10 p.m., WPS was notified that the Amber Alert was successful. The mother turned herself into the RCMP in Amaranth, Mb., and the child is safe. We would like to thank the public for their incredible response to this situation, as well as the RCMP for their invaluable assistance.
