CGS extends sincere condolences to the Van Camp family of Blackstock, Ontario on the passing of Keith Van Camp. Keith more than earned the reputation and title of being a venerable legend. He and his family and their business partners bred some highly influential Saanen goats under the Kampfire herd name. Keith was also a former CGS classifier. He was a true livestock man with a keen eye, a passion for great animals, the mind of a breeder and active involvement in numerous s...pecies and breeds within species. Thank you, Keith for sharing your passion and wisdom! See more

Notice from CGS Board In mid-November Canadian National Livestock Records Corporation informed their member associations that the per unit charge for processing registry work was increasing by 2%, effective January 1, 2021. The Board of each member organization had to consider how they would respond to this news. In late 2019 member associations were informed that the unit charge for processing work at CLRC was increasing by 17%. This provoked a detailed examination of the... CGS fee schedule and some noticeable adjustments to fees were made. The CGS Board carefully considered the latest news of the 2% fee increase from CLRC. Their decision was to implement a very modest increase in fees, as of January 1, 2021, to ensure that CGS was staying ahead of increased processing costs. They prefer this route to periodic larger increases in fees. CGS worked with CLRC to review proposed changes to allow CLRC time to program the changes and to update our fee schedule. Any registry work submitted electronically or mailed by December 31st, 2020 will be based on the current fee schedule. Work submitted electronically, or by mail, after January 1, 2021 will be processed based on the new fee schedule. The revised fee schedule is available on the CGS website at www.goats.ca under the INFO and LINKS and in the NEWS section or via the CLRC website at www.clrc.ca and on the CGS page under Associations. Should you have any questions please contact your local director or the CGS office. CGS' Board is determined to operate the association on a businesslike basis. See more

Indeed! Why not shout this news from the very rooftops! CLRC staff have provided us with registry processing stats to the end of October 2020. Registrations after ten months, are UP 13.5% over 2019 YTD and are at 95.5% of all of 2019! At the end of September they were at 87% of all of 2019! Transfers are UP a whopping 47% over 2019 YTD AND are at 113% of all of 2019 already! Memberships are UP 5.3% over 2019 YTD and are at 103% of all of 2019!
