Sodium! This time of year, when we think of sodium, it might bring to mind sidewalk salt. How pedestrian (pun intended)! But there is a lot more to this common element than what you may know. Thanks to CNL's Chuk Azih for supporting the Element of Surprise series on CBC yesterday. Listen live! https://www.cbc.ca//cl/15834476-element-of-surprise-sodium

Our employees live in the communities surrounding Chalk River Laboratories, the site of the proposed NSDF and the NPD site. Ensuring the long-term protection of people and the environment is just as important to us as it is to you.

Drive safely this morning! The Ottawa Valley has received its first significant snowfall of the season. The Grounds and Roads crews have been working through the night and the Chalk River Laboratories are being cleared of snow and we will be operating as normal. Ontario Ministry of Transportation road reports indicate that the main roadways are partly snow covered with fair visibility. If travelling, please take the time this morning to ensure that your vehicle is clear of snow, and ready for winter driving conditions.

A little #flashbackfriday to the wonderful staff that kept employees well fed! Bonus points for anyone who can name the company that staffed the cafeteria in these photos!

Big News! We, alongside the Deep River and District Hospital (DRDH) are pleased to announce that a new COVID-19 testing centre has opened on the hospital grounds to provide a safe, secure, and isolated location for local residents to access COVID-19 testing this winter. The hospital hosted its first testing day on Tuesday, November 17, where testing was administered in a trailer that was donated by CNL. With the COVID-19 pandemic becoming increasingly active in communities a...cross Renfrew County, local health officials are also working hard to make the flu vaccine more accessible this year. With that goal in mind, we and DRDH are also working with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit to host flu clinics in the communities of Deep River, Chalk River, and Stonecliffe, which includes a clinic being held at CNL’s Morison campus. We are so proud of this partnership to provide these services in the communities that we live, work and play. https://www.cnl.ca//cnl-deep-river-and-district-hospital-s #proudcommunitypartners

To build a clean energy future here in Canada, we have to pursue scientific progress today. Science to develop energy that is free of greenhouse gases. Science to protect our environment from pollutants and other harmful emissions. And science to make clean energy technologies work better together, from nuclear energy and hydrogen to solar and wind power. We’ve harnessed nuclear science to change the way Canadians power their lives and we’re poised to do it again. ... #SMR #smallmodularreactors #nuclearenergy
