20 Questions with 20 Scientists in Canada. First interview with Michael Rudnicki. While his childhood dream was to be an astronaut or follow in the footsteps of Jacques Cousteau, Michael Rudnicki first encountered molecular biology in high school. He was hooked after reading the book The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins. It became a lifelong passion and led to an exciting career in stem cell research and regenerative medicine. https://stemcellnetwork.ca/about-us/20-years-of-scn/ #SCN20years #20Q20

While the Canadian stem cell community in Canada was well established since the discovery of stem cells by Canadian scientist Drs. Till and McCulloch, it was somewhat fragmented. There was a need for a unified voice to establish unresolved ethical, legal, social and policy issues and drive stem cell research and regenerative medicine forward. Dr. Ron Worton was a leader in bringing the right people together to form the Network in April, 2001. #MilestoneMonday #SCN20Years
