The officer at the Port Of Entry would usually write the 2-year period on the passport. Age of Dependent again increased from (under) 19 to 22!! Age of 'Dependent Child' has again been increased for Immigration applications to under 22 from under 19! This will allow children up to the age of under 22 to be included in applications of parents as Dependents. This new law will come into effect on Oct 17, 2017. So if you have a child who is 20 years old and you want to include him/her in your immigration application then you should wait till October 24th. Once an a...pplication is filed, it will not effect you even if the law changes later on! But, in the same way, applications that have already been filed (in which children between the ages of 19 and under 22 could not be included as dependents) will continue to be processed under the old law.
