Accepting of Touch Seminar students showing off a few moves! Accepting touch doesnt have to be forced or hated. We can teach our dog positions and what to expect so that they not only enjoy it but they want to do it! It was so great seeing students go from their dog hiding under chairs when the nail clippers came out to the dog happily interacting with them! SO proud of you all!

Scent Detection!! I am VERY proud of my students!! I wish I would have filmed more of you last night. Scent Detection is a specialty skill that has many pieces to its puzzle. Without a clear indication directly at source all the searching is for nothing. Congratulations students, keep training and keep learning! I look forward to seeing many of you in upcoming Scent Trials!

We have a spot in the Accepting of Touch Seminar/Workshop this Sunday at Noon. Teach your dog how to accept nail trims, brushing, hugging, touch from veterinarians, applying medication to ears/eyes etc, how to brush your dogs teeth....anything is possible with just a few new skills! As we all gather on this Thanksgiving Holiday with friends and family, being thankful for what we have and reflecting on our past year, Canine Academy is doing the same. Its one of the toughest decisions I have yet had to make but I have decided to close Canine Academy at the end of the month so that I can spend more time with my family that I miss out on far too often. I hope that you have learnt a lot about yourself, your dog and have shared your knowledge with others. ...I hope that we have raised the bar in North Bay for teaching dogs and that you always remember what youve learnt. The HAT-IIs did amazing with their heels down the waterfront and down town!! They did out of sight non verbal stays and greeted a strange dog!! I am very VERY proud of my students for being able to do real life scenarios with their dogs!
