Friends, this has been a challenging year for the CMS. We have had to think quick on our feet to change our programming, create new programs that better accommodate the needs of the community during the pandemic and do a whole lot of speculation. The impact on our finances has been considerable. That's why, in the spirit of #GivingTuesday, we invite you to donate generously to your Society so we can better serve the Canadian mathematical community. You can give through your p...ortal: https://cms.math.ca/about-the-cms/donations/ Or on Canada Helps: https://www.canadahelps.org//canadian-mathematical-societ/ ----------------------------------------------------- Cher et chères ami.e.s, ce fut une année difficile pour la SMC.

Dr. Monica Nevins (UOttawa) writes about the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion in mathematics and the important work of the CMS' EDI Committee in the February issue of the CMS Notes. "Equity is correcting imbalances. Diversity is seeing and respecting the other. Inclusiveness is reaching out. And (borrowing from a panelist’s definition from the hugely successful Fields LGBTQ+Math Day in November): to be an ally is to be an advocate, to take others’ problems as... your own.
