A calm, overcast morning on Sporting Lake in the Tobeatic Wilderness Area on route to the serene nature preserve islands. The nature preserve protects some of the last untouched climax forest in Nova Scotia with hemlock and pine trees that tower above like skyscrapers.

Come and View Our Photography Exhibit! As you may know the Milton Canoe and Camera Club Members meet every three weeks to display and discuss two photographic c...hallenges that were tasked to them. Our members photos are projected on a screen and discussed. Some of our past photographic challenges included; silhouettes, portraits, slow shutter speed, high contrast, point of view and many more. In our current photo challenge we’ll be shaking it up a bit. We’re opening our doors to everyone! The photo challenge is called Social Cause and you are invited to our gallery viewing on Friday October 9th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday October 10th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Here’s the photo challenge MCCC members were given and the photo exhibit you will be viewing: SOCIAL CAUSE - One way to effect social change is with photography. Regardless of the nature of the cause, photography is very powerful in creating awareness. It can create a discussion that can raise the popularity of an issue and eventually effect social change, or at least create the driving force required to effect change. Your photographs can act as a witness to a social cause a documentary style of shooting that brings evidence to a cause such as littering, ocean trash or a public health issue. Whether it’s saving our local forests from clear cutting, the salmon farm expansion, rebuilding our community, COVID 19, buying local or anything else that’s important to you. Members will be selecting four of their best images that they will print, mount and display no smaller than 11 14 inches in size. We hope you can make it out to support the photographic talent of our members and view their gallery of images at the MCCC Clubhouse, 137 West Street in Milton on Friday October 9th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday October 10th from 10AM to 12:00 Noon. COVID-19 protocols will be in effect so please wear your mask.
