Our little Ham is still waiting ... Please #SHARE and help Hammie find his forever home ABOUT HAMMIE:... - Male - Born in 2014 - Neutered - Vaccinated - Special Dietary Needs: Hypoallergenic Food HAMMIE’S STORY: Hammie was found as a stray and was brought to C.A.R.E.S. to find a new home. He was in pretty rough shape, but he's healed up quite well! Hammie has loads of energy. He's cuddly and loves to play! He's still learning his manners, and likes to nibble and use his paws to show his affection. He is a sweet boy with lots of personality. Hammie doesn't do well with other cats, and often picks fights with them. Because of he likes to nibble when playing, we don't think he'd do well with young children. Unknown around dogs. ???Are you the one Hammie has been waiting for??? Please contact C.A.R.E.S. shelter *directly* by phone or email (not on Facebook,) to inquire further: : (604)532-5632 : [email protected] #availableforadoption #adoptdontshop #catshelter #langleybc #pickme #stillwaiting #theresnoplacelikehome #happymewyear #HappyNewYear C.A.R.E.S. is a non-profit, no-kill cat shelter located in Langley, BC. C.A.R.E.S. Canadian Animal Rescue and Extended Shelter 16.01.2021

Hi ... My name is Hammie! I am around 5 years old and I think I got this name from being a little ham at times.....which I totally am!! Back in 2018 I had been living on my own outside and was being fed everyday by a wonderful lady. When that lady had to move she didn't want to leave me there to fend for myself so I was trapped and brought to C.A.R.E.S. I was lucky to come here, I really wasn't feeling very well and my skin was itchy all the time.....the staff and team of... veterinarians discovered that I was allergic to regular cat food and needed to eat hypoallergenic food instead. Once they started feeding me hypoallergenic food I started to feel so much better and got back to playing and being my fun self...in between my beloved and most favorite thing ever...my naps...they are my #1 !! Throughout my life growing up I didn't have a lot of interactions playing with people so sometimes I can play a little bit rough... I am definitely more gentle now after playing with these wonderful volunteers all the time... but I do still need reminders sometimes when I get really excited! I have been here at C.A.R.E.S. since 2018 and I think that's because I live in my own space because I can't eat the regular cat food; and I miss meeting everybody because I am always napping ....did I mention that I looove naps? So if you come and I'm having a nap you need to wake me up so we can meet ...please... I would really love that alot! I am very happy here but would really enjoy a home and person to call my own and to spend time with everyday. I need a quiet place with no small kids or any other pets. If you are looking for a friend to lounge around the house, have naps and binge watch entire seasons of Netflix with. then I am your man!! I hope to meet you soon.... Don't forget to wake me so I don't miss you !!! PS. Hypoallergenic food is easy to find, so don't worry!! Love, Hammie For info on Hammie or any of our cats email- [email protected] Thank you for reading, Written by a volunteer (Tara)

Bonjour ....I am Gary My story begins in 2018 I had spent some time in a Surrey shelter before I got brought to C.A.R.E.S. in 2019. I don’t really remember much before that because I was so young; I am around 5 years old now. I was really scared at first and acted out from fear, but since living here at C.A.R.E.S. I have learned that I can trust people and they are really nice. Sometimes I even enjoy the other cats company too. although I do pick fights with them occas...ionally! Once I get to know you I will come to you for some affection and love, and rub all over your ankles to warm them! I am a shy guy and I really hope to find a home to call my own...I don’t really know what it’s like to live with a person....but I think I could really enjoy the quiet routine! I would prefer a home without kids because sometimes I can have a bit of cat-itude so a cat savvy adult would be a great companion for me! I love to play, and am full of life, energy and personality......and in case you didn't notice I am an extremely handsome guy and I photograph very well...I've heard about my debonair and handsome demeanor so much from the volunteers here that it's gone to my head juuusst a little!... In my spare time I enjoy gazing out the windows, napping, strutting around, practicing my poses and laying in the sun... If you like these things too we should meet! PS- Photographers and picture lovers definitely invited to come meet me to see what you could be working with you won’t be disappointed! Hope to meet you soon! *pose* Gary Written by a volunteer (Tara) For information contact [email protected]

2020 has felt like a long year for many... But it has been an even longer 4 YEARS for Smokey, who has been waiting at C.A.R.E.S. for his forever home! Maybe 2021 will be the year he is adopted? Smokey (Male, born in 2008) was found abandoned in a neighborhood in Langley. We think he had a home, as he is very social and loves attention. Smokey is an affectionate boy. He loves to play and has endless curiosity which gets him into all sorts of mischief. He would d...o best as the only animal in the home and the home might need some baby-proofing too. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? If you could be the one Smokey has been waiting for, please email [email protected] with the subject: interested in Smokey and one of our volunteers will get back to you ASAP. Please note as we are a volunteer-based shelter, and being the holidays, it may take a couple days to hear back. Thank you for your interest and for sharing this post to help Smokey get exposure and hopefully find his forever home for the new year! #happymewyear #happynewyear #goodbye2020 #goodbye2020hello2021 #catshelter #langleybc #volunteers #adoptdontshop Posted by Natalie

It's Friday Feline Facts Time! Did you know....... The technical name for a cats hairball is a bezoar. The oldest known pet cat was recently found in a 9500 year old grave in the Mediterranean...this predates early egyptian art by over 4000 years! There are more than 500 million domestic cats in the world.... A cat can travel at a top speed of approximately 31 mph over a short distance. On average, cats spend 2/3 of every day sleeping. That means a nine-year-old cat has been awake for only three years of its life. Speaking of sleeping cats....here is a picture of our sweet guy Smokey enjoying a nap with his teddy bear. If you are looking to add a pet to your home please consider giving a second chance to a deserving cat. Due to the new Covid regulations our adoption center at Petsmart is temporarily closed, but we are booking appointments for adoptions at the shelter. Call or email us to make an appointment! We would like to share with you some of the stories of cats you have helped us support through our open house, online auction and our other fundraisers. Meet Apollo, Apollo was trapped in Cloverdale with a group of several feral cats to be neutered and released back to the farmland they had made home. One of the ladies trapping the cats noticed Apollo seemed to enjoy being around people and wasn’t scared like the others ..he seemed just a little bit shy. Apollo was taken ...to our vet and was neutered and the scratch on his nose was cleaned. He then came here to C.A.R.E.S. to be socialized more by our dedicated team of kitty kissers! Apollo responded so well to being here he loved being warm and safe and very much enjoyed regular meals he didn’t have to fight for. He started to really come out of his shell after just a few days. Apollo started asking for love from all the volunteers and his little feet would start making biscuits as soon as he would see someone come in the room! He really is such a sweet boy. He had to make up for all the lost pets while living on the farm and he was doing just that!! Apollo came down with a cold while here and spent some time in our medical area here at the shelter where he could be closely monitored. He was such a good patient, so gentle and loving, he really likes and enjoys people and that was very evident in this little character even when he was feeling unwell. Apollo felt better after about a week of care and was adopted to his forever home shortly after. We are so happy for Apollo and the many other cats like him! Without your help none of this would even be possible. From all of us at C.A.R.E.S. and Apollo Thank you! More stories coming soon... This post was brought to you by a volunteer (Tara)

He is such a happy guy he purrs so loud and appreciates everything we do for him. (You may have seen a previous video of him purring in purfect pitch!) Recently our sweet Raider has come down with bronchitis, we are working closely with our veterinary team to help him get well. After a few days at the hospital he is back at C.A.R.E.S. receiving round the clock medical care including time with the humidifier! He gets tons of love from our dedicated team of volunteers and none of what we do would even be possible without your help 100% of all money raised goes directly to our cats. A long-time C.A.R.E.S. resident and senior cat, Snow White, has found a wonderful home and her Happily Ever After It is so heartwarming to see photos of her in her new loving home looking so cozy and happy, after all the years she spent at the shelter waiting to be picked. Snow White arrived at C.A.R.E.S. as a stray in July of 2017. She became well-known to the volunteers at C.A.R.E.S. as a sweetheart who loved to lick your hair and nuzzle your face! She took some tim...e to warm up, and was particular on how she likes to be petted. Here are words from her new guardian, Anna: Snow White bonded to me immediately. I spoil her with wet food and she spoils me with cuddles. I tell her every day that she is loved, valued, enough and worthy. And that couldn’t be further from the truth. We are so thankful to Anna and *everyone* who adopts and/or fosters cats from C.A.R.E.S. and gives them loving, forever homes. Please feel free to send us updates on your C.A.R.E.S. kitties, too! This super affectionate boy Chance is available for adoption and waiting for his second chance at having a home to call his own. Are you the one he had been waiting for? Please #SHARE and help "Chance" find her forever home! ABOUT CHANCE:... - Male - 7 Years Old - Neutered CHANCE’S STORY: Chance was found as a stray and trapped. We traced his tattoo and found out that he was previously neutered, trapped and realized by a nearby vet. We believe Chance had a family once before because of how super affectionate and friendly he is. But it is time for him to find a safe home once again, instead of living as a stray. He seems ok with other cats and we don’t yet know how he gets along with dogs or kids. Are you interested in adopting this sweet boy, "Chance"? Then please contact C.A.R.E.S. shelter *directly* by phone or email (not on Facebook,) to inquire further. : (604)532-5632 : [email protected] If you already have an appointment, make sure you ask to see Chance! He often stays hidden in his bed, but if you go say hi he will come to you and you will discover just how amazingly sweet he is! #availableforadoption #adoptdontshop #catshelter #langleybc #pickme #stillwaiting #theresnoplacelikehome C.A.R.E.S. is a non-profit, no-kill cat shelter located in Langley, BC. Molly is a general term that can be used to refer to any female cat. Molly is the female version of Tomcat. Also referred to as a Queen! Here is our very own Queen..... MISS MOLLYBEE... Her Story: MOLLYBEE is a beautiful 8 year old girl, she came to us from a home with small children that was very busy and she was too stressed in that environment. She is a very sweet but shy lady, once she gets comfortable with you she loves her pets and affection. Mollybee needs and deserves a quiet adult home, she seems ok with other cats, we are unsure about how she is with dogs. If your interested in meeting this beautiful sweet girl please contact C.A.R.E.S. *directly* via email or phone (not through facebook) Phone:604-532-5632 Email: [email protected] (This post was brought to you by Tara-Volunteer)

"CLAIRE" has been waiting a very long time at C.A.R.E.S. to finally be adopted. Are you the one she has ben waiting for?? Please #SHARE and help "CLAIRE" find her forever home! ABOUT CLAIRE:... - Female - 12 Years Old - Spayed CLAIRE'S STORY: This beautiful girl was transferred to C.A.R.E.S. from another shelter. We don't know much about her life before this, unfortunately. CLAIRE is a fierce little lady. She has a lot of energy despite her age, and loves to play. She can be affectionate and sweet - but also can get agitated with little warning. CLAIRE would do best in an adult-only home, without other pets as she does not get along with other cats, dogs or children. Are you interested in adopting or fostering our sweet girl, "CLAIRE"?
