Carlington is a vibrant, up-and-coming community in the heart of Ottawa that has been politically and economically neglected for a long time. But it used to be a major destination for people throughout the city, at least in the winter. Many of you have seen the decommissioned ski-lift at Carlington Hill, but did you know that, when it officially opened in 1965, the Mayor and several other dignitaries came to open the hill in a ceremony that included a torchlight parade of skiers down the hill and a fireworks display? Here is a full-page advertisement for the grand opening published in The Ottawa Citizen.
More than 100 people have liked this page since Saturday! Way to go Carlington!
I have contacted over 30 farmers and other local businesses so far, and some of you are farmers and vendors yourselves. Many are interested, and many are not able to commit to more markets this year. At this point in the season, the plan is to find enough interested farmers and vendors to host a trial market/event sometime later this summer. More details to come... Keep sharing and liking posts here to keep the momentum going! Thanks for all your support!
